My name is Layla and I'm going to tell you the struggle that we middle school students go through every day. Trust me it is not the picture perfect life advertised on books and movies.

First of all we can't sit where we want to in the lunch room. We have to sit at the same old same old class table. Once we sit somewhere once, we can barely sit anywhere else. Everyone gets mad when you sit in their seat. They always give some rude annoying side comment. Then I usually say something smart back to them. Secondly the food at school is disgusting. My friend Arianna found a long gray hair in her spaghetti. Nene's cousin found a roach in her milk. And people ask why I don't drink school milk.

There is no free period. Not at all. My 8th period class, Differentiated Studies, is like a free period. She lets us do our homework, get on electronics, and listen to music. My friends and I usually talk in her class... Our teacher usually doesn't yell at us, unless the other class made her mad, or we got on her nerves. As long as we clean up she doesn't really mind if we draw and eat and stuff. If we did have a free period, I'd walk around campus, talk, play, and listen to music.

We don't even have recess anymore. Recess lets us think and gives us a break from work. It's like our only relaxation time during the day. Other than our lunch period of course.

In the AIG class, they make it seem like it's all fun. but that's not true. It's a whole bunch of work. But AIG has it's benefits: We take math 1 year above our actual grade level ( so in 8th grade we take Algebra 1) Also we get the opportunity for scholarships and stuff.

This is just the beginning of the Middle School Lies and Struggle. Take my story for instance. I was just a normal 12 year old girl who was all excited about finally "growing up". My friend Stacy was going to the same middle school , George Chrysler Middle/High. As Stacy and I got on the bus I accidentally tripped and knocked this girl's phone in the alley. I checked and it wasn't broken. I apologized and then this happened.

"Excuse you! Could you not!?!" the black beauty yelled.

" I said I was sorry." I said stunned.

"Do you know who I am??" She said.

"You just look like some random chick to me..." I said. At that the "black beauty" was furious. And I speed walked very quickly away from her and found a seat near the middle of the bus..
