We cried together for almost three hours, but she then stood up and whispered three cold words into my ear. "I'm sorry, Sky."
Then she was gone. Out of my life forever.
I watched as the bright fire roared closer and closer to the facility. The dark grey, almost black, cloud of smoke rose up to the sky. It seemed so real, yet, it also felt so fake. The feeling of knowing that you are going to die. The heat from the burning forest around us was causing me faint by this point. Chad on the other hand...he had never looked so hopeless in his life. He had the look. The look that said that he was tired of defiying death. He was tired of running and hiding. Tired of fighting. Tired of watching people die. Tired of living. I knew the look and the feelng too well. I had it myself after all. But the saddest part, was how it started. How I lost my soul. How I lost life.
