I stared at my hands as mom set the table for dinner. The babies were upstairs taking a nap and it was just me and Hunter sitting down.
"Hunter, I think we should go to the park after dinner." I said.
"Why? I have things to do. I need to figure out how to style my hair and what to wear." He said.
"You're acting like such a girl. We need to help Mimi cross over." I replied.
"Who's Mimi?" Hunter asked.
"The girl at the park. I've been working my butt of to try to get her to talk and all you're doing is trying to impress Summer!" I said and stood up.
"Megan, where are you going?" Mom asked.
"I'm going to take a walk. I just lost my appetite." I said and slammed the door.
I pulled my jacket closer and glared against the wind. I turned around and stared at Killer's grave. He was hit by a truck and ended up breaking his spine, there was nothing the doctors could do so they put him to sleep. I sniffed and ran to the park. I hope there was still time for me to talk to Mimi. I made it to the swings and saw her. She was laughing and humming as her tiny legs hovered above the ground. I smiled and then the wind picked up. I heard the bush rustle and then a shadow came sneaking out of it. I gasped as Mimi ignored it until it was only a few feet away from her. She looked up and her face changed. The shadow extended out an arm and she jumped off the swing. She tried to run from it but it grabbed her and dragged her towards the bush. She screamed and I heard a deep evil laugh. The shadow emerged and walked away. I stared and walked back. A twig crunched under my feet and the shadow turned towards me. I screamed as it flew threw me and I stumbled backwards. The shadow disappeared and I sat up. Mimi was gone but I could hear what sounded like a whimpering. The air picked up again and I heard a soft whisper.
"Now you know how I died." She said, and the street light went out.
"Are you and Hunter still a thing?" Marsha asked as she shoved her books into her bag.
"I'm not sure anymore." I admitted and sighed.
Summer passed by and smirked at me. I stared at her as she passed by and stopped to talk to Hunter. She turned to walk away and tripped herself. She yelped as she landed in Hunter's arms.
"Oh god, thank you. I could have broken a bone." She said and looked away.
"What a horrible actor." I said.
"What a slut." Adam said.
Marsha squeaked and he looked at her. He smiled and Marsha dropped her things.
"Sorry! Uh, bye!" She said and picked up her things before running.
Adam laughed and turned to face me. I blushed and cleared my throat as he adjusted his backpack.
"Adam! Come here! Let's go out for lunch." Summer shouted.
Adam looked at Summer and turned around. Summer gasped as his back faced her and she stomped over to us.
"Adam! Come here!" She shouted and tried to grab him.
"Let go!" He demanded and shook her off.
I stared at them and Hunter's face flushed a deep red. He was glaring at Adam and I knew there would be a bad fight.
"Let's go. I'll treat you to lunch." Adam told me.
"Okay." I said and walked after him.
Hunter's face fell but I didn't care. Now he knew how it felt to be a second choice. Adam's hand grazed mine and I moved away a bit. Even though I was angry, I didn't want Hunter to think that I didn't want him. He was the only one for me and I loved him, but they way he was acting is making me reconsider it all.
