The evening of December 24th Kitty was sitting on the couch in Mike's basement watching as Mike led a campaign for Will, Lucas, and Dustin.

"Something is coming. Something angry, Hungry for your blood. It is almost here." Mike said dramatically.

"What is it?"

"It's the thessalhydra, I'm telling you."

"It's not the thessalhydra," Lucas said.

"I'm telling you, it's thessalhydra."

Kitty had been observing the campaign since the beginning, and from knowing Mike, and knowing what she'd do when she DM'd campaigns, Kitty could say with absolute certainty that it was, in fact, the thessalhydra.

Mike reached around the DM shade and slammed a piece down on the game board. "The Thessalhydra!"

"Damn it!"

"It roars in anger. Will, your action!"

Will looked frantically between his two friends. "What should I do? I-"

"Fireball him!" Lucas said, and Will glanced over to Dustin for his input as well.

Dustin nodded carefully making a show of thinking it over before looking up at Will with a small smirk. "Fireball the son of a bitch."

Will grinned and reached forward grabbing the dice and giving them a good shake before rolling them.

All of the boys stood and leaned over the table in anticipation and Kitty craned her neck a little bit to see what number the dice landed on.

"Fourteen!" The boys all roared in celebration.

"Direct hit, Will the wise's fireball hits the thessalhydra! It makes a painful... screeea" Mike got up and imitated a screeching noise. "and then... it crumbles to the ground. Its clawed hand reaches for you one last time and, and, and...," Mike dropped to the ground with a loud thump signifying the death of the thessalhydra.

The boys cheered, giving each other high-fives and hugs, in celebration. Kitty smiled and shook her head fondly.

Mike grinned and stood up off the floor sitting back in his chair. "Lucas cuts off its seven heads, and Dustin places them in his bag of holding. You carry the heads out of the dungeon, victorious, and you present them to King Tristan. He thanks you for your bravery and service."

"Woah, Woah, whoa, whoa, whoa, that's not it, is it?" Dustin asked.

"No, there's a medal ceremony."

"Oh, a medal ceremony! What are you talking about?"

"And-" Mike starts but the boys cut him off with his complaints.

"No, no, they're right Mike," Kitty said, getting their attention. She stood up from the couch and grabbed a tin from the table next to her popped the lid off, and placed it on the table with a flourish. "I'm pretty sure the gorgeous Queen Katherine insists on rewarding the brave heroes with handmade cookies and chariot rides back to their homes, since it is cold and getting dark."

The boys giggled and dug into the tin of cookies.

"You know..." Dustin said through a mouth full of cookies. "Brave adventurers aren't afraid of the dark, they can walk home just fine."

"Yeah, we eat cold and dark for breakfast!"

Kitty gasped dramatically and fanned herself with her hand. "You dare refuse a gift from the Queen herself? That's a crime punishable by death!"

The boys all laughed again and Johnathan knocked on the door and came down the stairs.

"Jeez, what's that smell? Have you guys been playing games all day, or just farting?"
