Tera's POV
"You have sheep legs!" I whisper/shout at him as we take our lunch break. The morning was a series of instructors explaining how to shoot arrows at targets, and me getting a bullseye every time.
It didn't surprise me; I was technically a daughter of Apollo. What surprises me was the fact that Grover had no idea what I was talking about.
"Tera, please. Tell me why you think that!" Grover whispers back.
So he didn't deny it...
I started from the beginning; how on the bus I had to help save him from a monster; how I found out I was a half-blood; how I was claimed by three gods...
His eyes widen. "That was just a dream. Don't think about it. Forget it."
"You have walking problems, because you have sheep legs!" I continue.
"Tera stop!" Grover shouts, and from all the lunch tables around us, the eating area goes quiet and everyone looks at us.
I don't understand. Why was he saying this rather than:
Tera, it was a dream. You're mental.
Or
It's true! All of it!I stare at him, and he stands from the table.
"Nothing to see here," he shouts to everyone around us. "Tera, come with me."
And I do. I follow him away from the eating area and back to the archery range. Nobody is around; everyone is eating. So it's just Grover and I, alone.
"Tera," he says, and looks down. "I could smell it on you but you showed no signs of being a demigod. But now that you do know...now that you've had that dream...monsters will be here any minute!"
He throws his crutches to the ground and takes off his pants. "They're goat legs." He says as he takes my hand and starts pulling me back to the bus. "And it's time to get you to Camp Half Blood."
~
We had stolen the bus and started driving to CHB. The rest of the students would have to figure out another way home. Right now was a great time for me to get answers.
"You keep telling me it was a dream. But it happened. Why and how?"
"Demigods have dreams sometimes, not normal dreams, and definitely not like yours. I don't know why you dreamed that, or how you dreamed it, but we have to get you back to camp before-"
"-that monster rips the bus to shreds and kills us?" I suggest, pointing straight ahead at the beast running towards us. A beast I recognize as a Minotaur.
"Tera, please tell me you can do something about that!" Grover bleats, and I keep having to remind myself that the other life was a dream; but maybe it was useful.
I sit there for a moment, and think. "You know Thalia, but you said you didn't on the bus ride to the archery range. Why?"
"Now's not the time for this!" He shouts as he stops the bus.
"Why?!" I shout back.
"Because she's dead! That's why! Now get out, and start running, unless you have some weapons in your pocket!" Grover shouts and I could hear the distress in his voice. He opens the bus doors and we quickly flee. The monster is almost upon us, so Grover and I sprint in the other direction in hopes of getting away.
I look to the sky and pray that the gods are listening.
"Help us! I don't know if I truly am your daughter, gods, but we need your help to figure it out!"
"Shouting won't help, the gods don't listen. Otrera, you need to go. I'll hold it off!" Grover shouts and stops running. I slow to a halt, too.
"Don't you ever for a second think that I'm going to run!"
It starts to rain, and the clouds quickly turn black as the Minotaur roars and charges.
Ten yards.
Nine yards.
Eight yards.
Lightning crackles in the sky and I pray to the gods that Zeus will use his bolt to kill the Minotaur.
Seven yards.
I look at Grover, and close my eyes.
Six yards.
BOOOOOM.
When I open my eyes again, the rain has stopped and the beast is gone; completely wiped from existence. Grover stands and stares at me like I just did something impossible.
"THANK YOU, ZEUS!" I shout and smile at Grover.
"But, no way." Grover shakes his head. "If he did that for you, maybe your dream was all a prophecy, most of it anyway. You're the child of a lot of gods. That means-"
"-more monsters. That means, let's go."
~
Quickly explaining everything to Chiron, we wait for an explanation.
I keep thinking to how it all ended; Thalia and I flying. Grover said Thalia was dead, but maybe that was just a lie. Thalia was alive, and I want that to be true.
"I don't think that was a foreseeing." Chiron concluded. "I think it was something that happened in a false reality; or perhaps a parallel dimension."
"But, how?"
"Percy has been having dreams too. About a girl. About his sister. In his dreams, his sister dies with a daughter of Zeus. If what you tell me is true, Percy may have lived the same false reality."
"That doesn't answer my question." I tell him, and wait.
"I don't know." He finally states. "Perhaps that is something you must ask the gods. On Olympus."
My heart almost stops. "Like a quest."
He nods. "And Will Solace, Nico DiAngelo, Annabeth Chase, Percy Jackson, and Grover Underwood-"
"-Can't come because if they do Will and Nico will die." I say. "I'm scared, Chiron. I really am. I don't understand what is happening, and I don't care. As long as we find Thalia, and we can get everything back to normal."
"Normal isn't an option, Tera." He tells me solemnly. "Not after all this. We need to know what this illusion was, and what it has to do with us. For all we know, we may be in danger regarding this. And Thalia isn't coming back. So don't talk about her."
I shake my head. What can I say? Chiron is going to call for a quest, and I'm scared the same people will die. But if he doesn't...
What if the camp really is under attack? What if this whole thing was just a message saying: "You're in danger, seek help"? I needed to talk to someone, anyone, so I could get an answer.
Chiron kneels in front of me, and I feel a hand on my shoulder.
"Hi, I'm Apollo. I heard you needed to talk."
