Waking up at 5am every weekday for soccer practice wasn't always nice. But what made it better was that my best friend matty was on my team. We've known eachother ever since I moved to portland when I was 9. With my annoying alarm clock blaring in my ear I wake up and gather my jersey and quickly change then head out to my car.
--
"Shultz watch your feet! You're a mess right now!" Coach hood yells at my team mate. She's been off her game ever since her and her boyfriend, copper, broke up. I don't really know why she lets boys get more important than soccer. I mean soccer is obviously better than a boy right??
"C'mon Wellington! Watch the ball!" Coach yells at me. Was I really not paying attention? I look for the ball on the field and notice it coming directly towards me. Right as i register what's happening it hits me right in the nose. Coach blows his whistle and jogs over to me.
"That's why I told you to watch yourself Wellington." Coach says as he leans down next to me
"Yup. Thanks coach. Got it." I say as I pinch my nose and tilt my head back.
"No need for the attitude. Sarah go to the bathroom with her and help her clean up." Coach says as he wraps an arm around my back and helps me off the ground.
--
"Did you see how hard that hit you. Man that was a lot of blood." Sarah says as she hands me more paper towel to use on my nose. I stand in front of the cracked school bathroom mirror and examine my face. Wow thanks whoever kicked that ball. Now I have a huge bump on my nose and a black eye is forming. Perfect.
"Yeah I noticed Sarah, I'm fine here. You can go back outside and practice." With my dismissal she quickly runs out the bathroom and heads towards the field. God she's annoying. Of course I noticed how much I bled, it was my face after all. I wipe more blood off my nose and it seems like it's done bleeding, finally. I throw away all my tissues and quickly splash my face with water. I need to stay focused the rest of the practice.
"Wellington! Are you in there?" Coach yells from outside the bathroom door. I quickly adjust my sloppy pony tail and tuck my shirt into my shorts.
"Um, y-ya im in here!" I call back. As I finish my sentence I hear the door open and in walks coach.
"Are you alright?" He asks as he walks up to me and looks at my face.
"Yeah I'll survive. Just will have to walk around with a black eye and bumpy nose for a little, that's all." I say as I study his face. He has the most beautiful brown eyes that make even the tightest blue ones look dull.
"Well you still look fit if I do say so myself." Calum says as he gently holds my chin, turning my head so he can look at my injuries at different angles.
"Fit? What does fit mean?"
His laugh echoes through the empty bathroom as he leans against the sink.
"Fit. Y'know, hot, attractive, cute-fit." Attractive? Did my extremely hot coach just say me, Hailey Wellington, was attractive? My face turns beet red at this confession.
"Well alright wellington, don't get too worked up. Let's get going. Most of the girls have left to the locker rooms and must be showering by now. Wouldn't want to shower all by yourself now would we?"

Okay don't hate me for making them live in portland but I live like 10 minutes from portland so I know it really well and it would just make the story more complete if that makes sense.
