The couple have just finished their morning routine and are about to leave for work, "It's weird not seeing Chloe in the morning, sitting down at the computer doing school work." Evelyn says to her girlfriend. The woman nods, agreeing, "When is she coming back?"
"In a couple of weeks, they're staying for the funeral."
Yesterday, Chloe had gotten a phone call from their mother's doctor telling them that if they want to say their goodbyes then they should make their way there very soon. Chloe obviously wanted to be there, as did Zack. He said he wanted to put this issue to bed once and for all, for closure. Both her father and sister tried to convince her to come with them but the older redhead refused. She had lost her mother a long time ago and has dealt with it, she doesn't see the point in opening an old wound just to lose her mother a second time.
The Latina looks at her with concern, "Are you sure you're okay? It's fine if you're not you know."
Evelyn takes a moment, "Of course I feel sad, but a bigger part of me feels guilty." Rosa furrows her eyebrows in confusion, "What do you have to feel guilty about?"
"I don't feel as sad as I think I should. I mean, she's my mother. I should be devastated, but it feels more like I found out a friend's family member has died instead of my own. Of course I'm sad about it, but I'll still continue my day like normal." Evelyn explains.
Rosa nods, thinking through her response before saying it, "In a way, you've already grieved the loss of your mother. You shouldn't feel guilty about not going through it again."
Evie releases as sigh, "Yeah, that's what I told my sister and dad. Maybe a part of the guilt is because I'm not there for them."
"They have each other, they've gotten on pretty well since Christmas. And they understand, if they're not mad, you shouldn't feel guilty." Rosa tells her.
"Yeah, I guess." The redhead sighs again before turning to her girlfriend, giving her a long loving kiss, "Thank you. If our friends knew how good Rosa Diaz was with emotions they would think you were replaced by an alien." Evie tells her with a little chuckle.
Rosa chuckles with her, happy that her girlfriend seems to be feeling a little better than before, "I'm not good with emotions, I'm good with you." She replies. Evelyn looks at her fondly, "One day the 99 will meet the cuddly Rosa Diaz that I know and love."
"Not any day soon." Rosa replies with a smirk, "Come on, we should leave now if we don't want to be late."

Not long into their shift, Amy speaks up, "Everyone, check your email. The greatest thing that could ever happen has just happened."
"The girl who beat you for High School valedictorian died?" Jake takes a guess.
"No, "Kevin Cozner requests your presence at Raymond's birthday party."" Amy reads from her computer.
"Who's Kevin Cozner? Is he the star of "Danzes with Wolvez?"" Jake jokes, getting a laugh from Evelyn before she says, "He's Captain Holt's husband."
Rosa adds onto her girlfriend's statement, "Captain Raymond Holt. We're invited to the Captain's birthday party."
"Oh, the Captain's party and whatnot." Jake replies, looking at his computer with interest.
"I can't wait to see the inside of Raymond's house. I'm gonna learn everything there is to know about him." Amy tells them.
"First of all, Raymond? You never call him that. And second, it's a birthday party. Not an interrogation, chill out, Ames" Evie tells her, a little wary of the girl's intensity.
