CHAPTER FIVE
Liliyana stood beside her husband and his family in the throne room. Her arm linked with Aemond's. His leather coat felt cool against her bare arms.
Her husband towered over her, his body slightly in front of hers. Liliyana doubted he was aware of his behavior when they were in public. He made sure, always, that he acted like a shield. His protectiveness was quite lovely. If not extreme at times; they were in the throne room. What could possibly happen?
Ser Vaemond began his case before Otto Hightower, Hand of the King. Liliyana's thoughts drifted. Tonight, she would sneak off to Aemond's chambers to be with him again.
She looked up at him. He had no idea of her current headspace. She gripped his forearm tighter. Aemond responded with a small head bow in her direction. His muscles tensed under her. Arousal engulfed her. She wanted him.
Her dirty thoughts were interrupted with the great doors opening. King Viserys, with support of his cane, stumbled his way forward. A gold mask, one Liliyana had seen before, graced his features. To hide the decay underneath. The family, Queen and Hand included, were not expecting this.
Liliyana stood on her toes to better see. The Rogue Prince assisted his brother up to the Iron Throne. The gesture nearly had her weeping.
The proceedings continued. The king called upon his cousin and lord Corlys' wife, princess Rhaenys, to settle the matter. She favored her husband's wishes, to allow Lucerys' succession of Driftmark.
But the temperature in the room chilled when Ser Vaemond began shouting and pointing at Luke. Liliyana felt Aemond push her further behind him, but she was rooted to the floor.
"Her children..." Ser Vaemond seethed, his whole body shaking. "are BASTARDS!" But he was not done. "And she is a whore!"
Mumbled chatter bounced around the silent room. The king stood, unsheathing his dagger. "I will have your tongue for that," he promised.
Within seconds, blood soaked the floor. The sound of steel against bone and guts echoed. Liliyana gasped at the sound. Her husband, without thinking, pushed her further behind him and she stumbled. She could no longer see the gore, but her eyes refused to stop showing it. Her breathing quickened and she steadied her hand against Aemond's back.
She heard Daemon's voice, but was unable to decipher his words.
Aemond turned to face his panicked beloved. This was her first death. All for that bastard child. Her body convulsed and her eyes darted all around her, focusing on everything and nothing. He grabbed her wrists and held them still.
"Shh, shh, shh," he cooed. "It's over, you're safe." She would always be safe.
Much of the room had cleared out, except for Rhaenerya, Daemon, and the queen.
"Is she alright?" the princess asked, unable to see her friend.
The queen came beside her son. "Take her back to her room, now. She needs rest."
"A-Aemond?" Liliyana finally focused on him. "I don't feel well."
Her husband's exterior cracked. Aemond became focused on Liliyana. He scooped her into her arms and nuzzled into her neck. Her scent of cinnamon and fire cleared the fog in his mind. If she had fainted, or worse--been attacked in the argument, not even the bastard's mother and husband would stop him from having his vengeance.
An eye for an eye in due time.

Aemond stood in the dining hall, conversing with his brother.
