Chapter 16

JJ'S POV

After an hour of searching he is nowhere to be seen so we give up and head back to the BAU "Alright so he is on the run from us and he is injured so on foot he won't be able to get very far so where would he go"
"Guys we can't profile Reid as we knew him" Morgan steps forward to say
"Why not?"
"Because I spent 5 minutes with him and could tell this is not the Spencer we remember" Hotch had a look of confusion on his face which was rare for him to show any emotion "Morgan what do you mean"
"I mean that he was confident, facetious and showed no pain even though he has been shot in the shoulder this is not the Spencer Reid we know" after a moment of silence Garcia asked the question I had asked Reid earlier "What would he have to go though for that to be possible" she looked as though she was about to cry it was Blake who decided to say what we were all thinking "He would have to have been beaten and tortured almost every day to be able to withstand that amount of pain and from what you have told me about him before he uses sarcasm as a defence mechanism I mean if he couldn't physically fight back he would have to develop the ability to make it look like he doesn't care what they do so he used sarcastic comments to do it " I am on the verge of tears I don't want to think about what he has had to endure for the last 5 years he was my best friend, my brother and he has been though so much all on his own I can now feel the tears starting to run down my face in silence
