Narrator: There was also a Half-Demon by the name of Fingerdash. His job was guarding the basement to make sure that the darkness did not escape, albeit he was sure that he was long gone. He'd journal his experiences with dealing with other Demons. He wore knight amor and had a frightened heart that could be easily scared to death. He was afraid of the dark after all.

GlubFub: Fingerdash, just the Demon I wanted to see.

Fingerdash: Half-Demon, you mean?

GlubFub: Yes. Anyway, for doing such a good job, I want you to go downstairs and get a chest. You've earned it.

Narrator: Fingerdash looked down the basement. It was dark, very dark.

Fingerdash: D-down there?

GlubFub: Of course. I mean, the Demon down there is probably dead by now. Demons don't live that long, you'll be fine.

Narrator: Fingerdash didn't trust his boss not one bit, but if he wanted a gift, he'd immediately chase after it. After contemplating, he walked downstairs to the basement with a torch. To his surprise, there was a huge, blue chest. He ran over to it and opened it.

???: Eh? Who goes there?

Narrator: Frightened by the voice, he ran back upstairs. He didn't really looked back until he ran into GlubFub.

GlubFub: Ouch! What's wrong with you?

Fingerdash: I heard something down there! It was raspy and old and—creepy! You have to go down there and look!

GlubFub: Enough! Did you get the chest?

Fingerdash: Yeah, but sir, I cannot go back down there. Someone's very much alive down there.

GlubFub: You're full of it. (Chuckles) I'm sure that there's nothing. Now, you're off until Friday. How does that sound?

Narrator: Today was Monday, so he was astonished to hear that.

Fingerdash: Yes! Thank you so much! (Runs joyfully out of the vault)

GlubFub(sighing): Kids these days...

Narrator: What the young man did in his free time was journal and draw sketches. Fingerdash did suffer from schizophrenia, and so he'd see and hear things that others couldn't. Perhaps the voice he heard was just a figment of his imagination. Meanwhile, Geo had other issues to deal with. She hadn't contacted her brother in weeks thanks to her parents not giving her access to writing a letter. At night, she'd search Official City for her brother, going from level to level to ask others if they'd seen him. Finally, she knocked on the final level.

Fingerdash: Be right with you in just a moment!

Narrator: Geo waited outside until he finally answered the door.

Fingerdash(gasping): You're the princess! (Bows down) Forgive me for making you wait! I-I'm just—

Geo: It's okay, dude. It's okay.

Fingerdash: Wait, really?

Geo: Yeah. Just call me Geo.

Fingerdash: O-okay...may I help you with something?

Geo: I'm looking for my brother. Have you seen him?

Fingerdash: Blaze? The one who got exiled a couple weeks ago?

Geo: Yeah.

Fingerdash: As far as my knowledge goes, I haven't seen him, but someone did tell me that he's somewhere near the Demon Gauntlet.

Geo: Really?

Fingerdash: Listen, I can't be sure about it. And besides, it's dangerous to travel there alone. Let me travel with you.

Geo: No thanks. I'm Half-Demon, so I'll be fine.

Narrator: The two later found themselves walking together talking, glancing at the night sky every once in awhile.

Geo: How do you know about the Demon Gauntlet?

Fingerdash: I used to work there. (Shudders) Not to be rude but that place gives me the creeps.

Geo: I suppose you're right. I mean, it is dangerous to go alone; you can get murdered or worse.

Narrator: Fingerdash had never thought about that. GlubFub had told him before that the Gauntlet wasn't as dangerous as others made it out to be, but it was. It was said that's where Darkness came from.

Fingerdash: O-oh...

Geo: You didn't know that?

Fingerdash: I—er—what do you mean? I've always known that.

Geo: (chuckles) Sure.

Narrator: Suddenly, a shadow pounces upon them. It was Deadlocked.

Deadlocked: Geo, who is this? (Snarling) And why is he holding your hand?

Geo: Father! Don't hurt him!

Fingerdash: Your Majesty! I-I-I didn't mean to—

Deadlocked: Enough with your pleads, peasant! Geo, I expect you to be at home by midnight, and what do you do? Disobey me. Look at yourself! You're talking with this peasant who thinks he knows where Blaze is.

Geo: Father!

Deadlocked: Leave her alone at once! Or forever suffer consequences...

Geo: He isn't bothering me, Father! Please don't hurt him, please!

Narrator: Deadlocked lunged at Fingerdash. When the young Half-Demon looked back at the king, he had a scar on his left eye.

Geo(gasping): How could you?!

Deadlocked: I gave him a choice to leave, and he didn't, so I have every right to do that.

Narrator: Geo had tears in her eyes; ran off. She ran past many levels in Official City, entering the darkness of the basement. Meanwhile, Deadlocked looked at him.

Deadlocked: I do not want to see you near my daughter ever again. Do you understand?

Fingerdash(frightened): Y-y-yes sir...
