"I want to live a life like yours."
Kat looks at Casper worried, she laughs a little and thinks he is joking or something. "What do you mean?"
Before Casper can answer the question, the two of them are interrupted by teens who had attended the party. The first to bombard Kat was Amber, the girl who wanted to have the party at her parents boathouse.
Amber appeared stuck up as usual and Nicky followed her from behind. "Hey Kat." Nicky first says, Amber is annoyed by his enthusiasm.
"Meow!" Amber laughs.
"Not funny," Nicky replies, turning his eyes to Amber. Amber crosses her arms and shoots a glare at Kat. Kat narrows her eyes, but as Nicky continues, Kat smiles at him.
"Cool party the other night. Your house is pretty creepy!"
"Yeah it surprised us all." Amber says, grabbing Nicky's arm. Kat held the book that had Casper on it tight to her chest, she glanced over to where Casper had landed after she set the book down, but he was nowhere to be seen.
"Oh yeah," Kat laughs, "Thanks for coming." She pauses, looking at them both, "I'll see you too around." Kat smiles as she puts her head down, turning away from the two and walking down the isle.
Nicky watches curiously, and Amber rolls her eyes. "She's so full of herself."
Once Kat was away from other students again, Kat quietly called to Casper, and for a while, there was no sign of him.
Casper sat on a shelf between some books looking down. He felt sad and dumb for telling Kat that. She probably couldn't love a ghost like him. There wasn't any way to become human again unless there was another vile his dad had down in his lab, but Casper was hesitant to try.
They had been down there a few times and there was clearly no sign of the red potions down there. The thoughts of becoming human again made Casper wonder how Kat would feel about the idea.
She was the main reason he wanted to become human again, he wanted a chance to love. He wanted a chance to grow up and be like his dad. He wanted a chance to change and be the best person he could be for his parents. Would Kat understand?
Now coming out from behind the books, Casper appears in front of Kat, looking down as if he were going to kick a pebble. "Hey." He whispers quietly.
"Casper are you okay?" Kat simply replies. Casper could tell she was sincere.
"Do you think I could live a life like yours?" Casper asks.
Kat blinks, surprised by his question. "Casper that would be amazing, but how could you? You're a ghost." Kat frowns.
Before the two can continue their conversation, the school bell rings, indicating it was time for the next period to start. Kat grabs her things grabbing a hold of a Presidents history book and checking it out at the librarian's desk. Kat politely says thank you as Casper clings onto her backpack strap, hidden.
"We'll have to talk more about this later, Casper."
