LATER THAT AFTERNOON, BIANCA and Rick returned to the prison looking like hell, but there was a serenity to their silence. Bianca's head ached, her hearing was still gone, but she ignored both to watch the trees pass with a slight hope restored. She never would have thought that Rick, of all people, could get her back to a version of her old self, but he did. He showed her that in this year of surviving, she had stayed true to herself, saved her friends, and did all she could before resorting to violent tendencies.
