Him,, I guess

×××

You joined the Student Council shortly after your third year of high school at Kamome Academy. You were bored and stupid so you assumed you could handle it. You were one of the many talented students involved in the group. In fact, you rivaled both Teru and Akane in academics, much to their dismay. You were just too cool 😎

Over time, you'd try to step out of your comfort zone, despite being incredibly awkward, and get to know the two of them. Surprisingly, they weren't as scary or "high and mighty" as you thought they were, and offered to hang out more often. Shortly after you were pretty good friends, yet still competing for the spot of No.1.

Anyways, you often times poked fun at each other, but nothing too harmful. It was playful banter between the three of you and it, in a way, helped you get to know their personalities better outside of how they were perceived outside.

You thought it was fun to annoy them, especially Teru. For someone who hardly got upset in public, it was funny to see this butthurt expression after you pointed out how got a point below you on a test or how crooked his tie was. And vice versa, he'd poke fun at a bad hair day or your lack of an umbrella on a rainy day. Harmless fun.

Well, one day it was getting a little heated.

~'~'~'~

"At least my parents wanted me."

"At least my grades are effortlessly perfect."

"At least I'm not a ginger." (I swear I'm joking I actually love ginger hair 😭)

"At least-"

"Jesus!" Akane sighed outwardly as he pinched the bridge of his nose.

"Oh, sorry, Akane! We'll quiet down," You assured the boy and pat his shoulder, to which he shrugged it off.

Teru nodded. "Apologies, Aoi. [Name] here just gets a bit carried away when it comes or bullying me-"

"Bullying???"

"Yes, bullying! Do you not see what they say to me, Aoi?" Teru dramatically leaned into the boy and you rolled your eyes.

Akane pushed him off begrudgingly and stood up from his seat. "Whatever, lovebirds. I'm leaving. See y'all next week." He gave a small wave before leaving out the door with his things.

"I- lovebirds??" You stammered under your breath. You lightly whacked the side of your face, feeling it growing warmer.

It was then just you and Teru left. You cleared your throat and checked your phone for the time while he eyed the ceiling above.

You clicked your tongue. It was getting a bit late, but no concerning texts from your mom or dad, so you were good.

"So... What now?" Teru spoke up.

You sighed, shrugged and kicked your feet up on the table. "I dunno. What do you wanna do?"

Teru kept a serene smile on his face as he hummed. "I dunno. Maybe get your nasty shoes off the table for now."

You looked away and grumbled a bit to yourself, setting your feet down and instead crossing your legs and sitting tall.

"Okay, now what?"

"Have you seen Mean Girls before?"

"What- No??"

Teru began digging through his pocket and pulled out his phone. He pulled up a movie with some random highschool girls dressed in the most pink, early 2000's outfits you'd ever seen. You looked up, clearly unimpressed.

"Wanna watch it with me?"

"I guess." You shrugged and scooted your chair over to Teru as he leaned his phone against his bookbag.

For the next hour and a half, you sat in the empty Student Council room and watched Mean Girls. The sun was beginning to set, leaving the room with an orange-y yellow hue. You looked over to see Teru beaming at his phone, resting his head on his folded arms. You cracked a small smile as he let out an occasional chuckle at a funny bit of the movie.

While you did have a small rivalry in academics, you truely were greatful for his friendship and attention. He'd been with you through some of the hardest moment sit your life and it was hard to out into words how it made you feel. One part of you felt what you'd describe as happy, light and content. Another side felt anxious, warm and fuzzy. You'd never given those feelings any thought, however. Why think about them now, of all times?

"Hey, you okay?" Teru gave you a small smile. Apparently you'd been staring at him rather creepily.

You hastily cleared your throat. "Y-yep, sorry. Just zoned out is all. Uh, I should go, it's late. Sorry again. Goodbye!" You could feel your entire body getting warmer as you hurried to gather your things.

Teru set a large hand on your wrist to slow you down and gave you a genuine look. "Hey, hey, slow down. You're fine, really."

He smiled and you stopped shaking so much. Color rushed to your face and you instantly cursed Teru for being so... Him.

Your shoulders slumped as you set your bag back down. You had an idea, maybe a stupid one, but it's now or never. Good timing, good space, nobody around; fuck it.

"So, um, do you have... Anything going on this weekend?" Your voice quivered slightly as you spoke. Welp, no turning back now.

Teru thought for a moment. "Hmm, nope. I'm free, why?" His eyebrows shot up as he gave you a cheeky smile. "You tryna ask me out? Awe~"

Your eyes went wide as mentally cursed yourself and covered your face with your hand. How could he have known? You were so very discreet.

Teru stood up and grabbed your hand gently, removing it from your embarrassed face. "Aww, don't be so nervous~ You know I'd always say yes."

You nearly choked on air. "E-excuse me?"

He bent down and handed you your bag. "I'll gladly go out with you this weekend. How's Saturday, 6 P.M?"

You stuttered a bit before nodding. "Y...yeah! Totally works for me! Um, see you...?"

"I'll pick you up, no worries. See you then, cutie~"

You booked it for the door and ran home the entire way, flopping onto your bed and kicking your feet childishly.

After the weekend passed, Akane came back surprised to see you not roasting each other and instead acting all sweet and bushy together.
