As the king Jahaerys Targaryen lay in his deathbed his children were brought to him. Calisenia (Charlie) was his 14 year old firstborn son and heir. There was also his daughter Sixteen year old Tohiris (Tori). And the six year old Olisaine (Olly) who the late queen had died giving birth to.

Collectively these three children were known as the springs, having been born during one of the longest springs in Westeros history. During their childhood the realm had prospered, blessed with bountiful crops and flourishing plants. Many saw the siblings as a good omen and they were well loved.

But now their childhood was fading as they stood at their fathers bedside watching the life slowly drain out of him.

"You will be the youngest king in history." Wheezed Charlies father as he desperately grasped at his sons hand. "There was so much more I had to teach you. I thought I would have years, but the maesters say I will not see sunrise."

Charlie had lived his entire life with the weight of his birth right. He was the heir to the greatest dynasty the world had ever seen, one day he would sit the iron throne. But such responsibility had always been decades away. Now that pressure came crashing down on him like a wave, he felt like he was drowning.

Charlies father weakly beckoned to a kingsgaurd. The soldier stepped forward and went down on one knee holding up the valerian steel sword blackfire.

"The blade of Aegon the conqueror, your ancestor. It is yours now."

Charlie took it with shaking hands, the blade felt impossibly heavy.

His father gestured again and a Septon stepped forward.

"You have been betrothed to your sister since birth. I wish to see you married before I die." Jahaerys  turned his gaze to tori. "You will make a good queen, you are strong and smart, help guide your brother reign."

The marriage ceremony was short and sombre.

Afterwards the king banished everyone but Charlie from the room to give one last piece of advice. "You have a good heart my boy, I love you for it but it makes you weak." He grasped Charlies hand with the last of his strength, trying to impress one last lesson on his son. "Weak kings do not live long. There is a dragon in you, to rule you must awaken it and burn all those who challenge you."
