Nick and Charlie became fast friends, partly because they had an excuse to spend all day with each other. Nick was Charlie's sworn protector and stuck by his side at all times. The rest of the kings guard were only really around during official events. Nelly also became a fixture of court life freely roaming the palace.

Charlie did order nick away regularly, insisting that he take time off. Sometimes these dismissals had a ulterior motive, meeting up with Ben. These secret rendezvous mainly consisted of passionate making out followed by Ben asking for political favours. He expected Charlie to follow his counsel over everyone else's and got angry if Charlie didn't do what he said.

Recently he had pushed for a new commander for the city watch but Charlie had appointed Tori's suggestion.

He hoped the news had not reached ben. But when he entered Ben's chambers the boy was pacing back and forth angrily.

"How dare you." Ben snapped. "I am the hand of the king. How can you listen to a girl over me."

"You will speak of my sister and your queen with respect."

"Her job is to make babies not run the kingdom."

Charlie turned to leave but Ben charged over to block his way. "I don't think you appreciate all I do for you." Ben snarled.

Charlies usual timidity evaporated, he could feel the fire of anger flair up inside him. "You don't help me you just use me."

Ben shoved Charlie up against the wall. "Your so hot when your angry." Ben said and started kissing him roughly.

"Stop it!" Charlie tried to fight him off but the older boy was much stronger.

Suddenly the door few open and ben cried out in pain as nelly bit him. Nick was a second behind her and grabbed ben, throwing him off Charlie.

"You dare touch me!" Ben drew dark sister.

Nick whipped out his sword. "You dare assault the king!"

Charlie could see that nick was about to kill ben. "Stop!" Charlie commanded.

There was a tense silence filled with heavy breathing and Ben slowly backed away. When he was gone nick sheathed his sword and turned to Charlie. "Are you ok?"

"Did you hear all of that?"

"Nelly sensed something was wrong so I followed her." Nick explained. "He deserves to die for laying  a hand on you."

"I wont kill him." Charlie replied. "But I'm going to banish him for court. He's sure as hell not going to be my hand anymore."

Nick nodded approvingly. "Who will replace him?"

"Id pick tori, but she's a woman and Tao is a foreigner."
