His Lullaby

Chapter 5

Dream was entered the portal that was opened, seeing Error that was going to kill Nightmare with his gaster blasters. His mouth gently open with a surprise face but not too surprised as he gently smile at the destroyer. "Cookie, you shouldn't blast Nightmare." He said softly to him.

"B-But–." Error jumped off of his blaster and walked toward him. As he was sobbing with tears he formed. "He's hurting you!! Why you let Nightmare torture you!? Can't you feel your own pain!?"

Dream didn't answer but he let out of soft chuckle. He lower his head to the ground. "I don't understand my own pain, because I don't want to know it. All I want to feel your pain, EVERYONE'S pain so I do it myself equally."

"Besides, I can't feel my own pain, I don't really want one." Those words made Error hugged him. "Cookie, no need to cry. I'm still right here. I will not go anywhere yet."

"Don't leave..." Error sobbed as he felt Dream was patting his head softly. "You're prefect here, your brother was supposed to leave this world, not you..."

The King Of Fear felt Error's guilty, which he found it pathetic since he's the destroyer yet he was having feeling of guilty for his disgusting brother who was comforting him. He started to feel positive from to the two of them in disgusted. Disgusting...

Tentacles were summoned from his back, destroyed those gaster blasters when they got distracted. He pointed his finger at the two as he spoke. "Pathetic, Error. You were supposed to kill him while you have a chance yet you started to feel guilty toward that disgusting brother of mine."

"He's not your brother, Nightmare! He's belonged to Shattered now!!" Error spilled out his words, making Nightmare shocked to hear but that made him more better than before. "I know you don't care, that's why I begged him to be with Shattered and his family!!"

That made Nightmare laughed wickedly how weak Dream is. "You can't even protect yourself, Dream!! How weak you are, you are not worth to become the guardian or being my brother!!"

"I should have kill you before when I still got my chance. I should have let you die in the cliff back then..." Everyone except Killer were shocked to hear what Nightmare said.

Dream didn't say anything, but his frown turn into a sad smile. He gently softened his eyes, with tears forming. "I finally know now. That's what I've been waiting for. To hear the truth."

"All this time, I knew you were lying to me. Just make myself happy." He explained, his tears didn't fall down but it was still forming slowly. "Telling that you love me and you had promised me that you will love me until the end but I know, it's was all a lie."

Dream giggled softly, looking away from Nightmare. "Who am I kidding, I am not talking to my brother. He's dead. I should have gone to the grave and tell him about it."

"Shut up!!" When tentacles tried to stab his soul, Cross ran toward the yellow one, slicing every single of them to defend Dream from getting killed. "Move out of the way, traitor! I'LL KILL YOU ALL!!!"

"BOSS THAT'S ENOUGH!!" Dust yelled as he spoke without thinking anything making everyone shocked except Killer and Nightmare. "DREAM ONLY HAVE 3 WEEKS BEFORE DAWN! CAN'T YOU SEE YOUR OWN BROTHER IS TRULY IN PAIN LIKE YOU IN THE PAST!?"

"Dust!" Dream spoke, before he could continue yelling at Nightmare. "It's okay, let him be. He said he was in pain right? Let him have what he want besides I won't be here anytime soon. I don't need to be kill by his bare hand... So please..."

He gripped Error's sleeves, looking down in tears. "Let's go and leave this wonderful castle. I don't want to see you all fight for me. Please? Let's ignore what happened and move one."

"Dream, would you mind singing the song? That song..." Error asked, holding Dream's hand gently that was gripping his sleeve. He had an idea but he wasn't sure if Nightmare would cry about it. It was difficult since Nightmare was a heartless king to everyone. "I want to hear all over again."

"I will." The little guardian said, gently smile at him. "After we get out of here, okay?"

That went backfired. Error sighed but nodded at him. He was worrying for Dream and he was shocked that this poor soul only have 3 weeks left. There is no way he will leave for more than a year. Why this world so being cruel to us?! Why can't they let him live!?

The others (excluded Nightmare and Killer) left castle, before the portal was close, Horror walked toward it making his best friend looked confuse why he was leaving with the two.

"Horror, where are you going?" Killer asked.

"... You back stabbed Dust and Cross. You know? Not because of that, because you haven't seen Dream's pain. Not all of us notice because we ignored him. Whenever I see his sad smile at me before I could kill him. He said." Horror take a deep breath and spoke. " “Before you kill me, can I sing a lullaby for Nightmare?” Those words stop me from killing him."

"Even more worst, he wasn't like any Dream timelines, begging his own brother to come back to him. Haven't he done that before, may I ask that question, Nightmare...?" Horror said in monotone, his dull face was staring at him, feeling disappointed for his only best friend.

"He never beg me to come back with him, so what's the deal with it?!" Nightmare shouted at the last sentence. "You're just like him aren't you, can't understand how we all—!!"

"We shared our struggles, our pain to those what we called freaks but Dream, he never done that to everyone. He never show his pain, he never want them to be worry for him. Spending his own life with everyone he loved before he could die peacefully." Horror cut him off. "He never want us to feel his true pain unlike you... That's why he hide away, not because he scares of us or because he was too weak."

"I really hope you're happy that Dream will die peacefully, you won't die with him." He finished his talk to them before facing the portal. "Goodbye, Killer. We all hope you two won't regret seeing it."

Then that was his last words before entering the portal as it closed. Horror walked where he should find Dream in the garden, where his biological brother's grave is. As he was walking down the path he stopped and saw Dream was a book.

"After his little brother's left the house with tears in his eyes, the older brother at first didn't care but after few days later, things changed him when the little brother was dying on the road–." The crackhead interrupted his story by taking the book from him. "Hey–! Oh, it's only you Horror. Do you need something?"

"Why are you reading this story to all? You know it doesn't fit you to read this book." Horror said, flipping the pages while he was scanning the story line. "I'll steal the book from the library for you. I can find a fairytale story for you."

That made Dream chuckled. "I'm not a kid, Horror. Did you know that book was actually based on real life?" Horror blinked his eyes in replied not want to answer about it. "Never mind."

"Anyways, the others should be here any soon. We decided to sleep at my house. They really wanted to take care of me so badly. Do you want to join with us?" He offered him.

"Yes, I would love to. I don't have a place to sleep after my AU was destroyed by Error for a long time." Horror's hand holding him gently. "I was also kicked out by Nightmare because I was included as a traitor like those two idiots."

"Everyone is welcome to my house. Rich or poor, evil or good. Everyone is welcome!" Dream smile brightly, gently holding his hand with the other. "I would do anything whatever they want, even they want me dead."

"I will do as they wish, until the end of my life." The yellow one chuckled, bring him to his house. "You don't need to be guilty for me, once I'm gone you all won't need me anymore. You will learn how to move on, I am sure about it."

"... Okay." That was only Horror could replied, with tears in his eye sockets. He lowered his head, letting Dream bring him to his house.
