sandy drove faster than i'd ever seen down the road. the gas pedal was pressed flush into the floor of the car and i held onto the seatbelt for dear life. my chest hurt from my heart beating so fast it could have burst through my rib cage. but eventually, we made it to wherever she thought we had a lead at.
it was the scorpions den.

"sandy no fucking-"
"i'm going in with it or without you."
her light bubbly voice turned cold and hard. i whipped my head towards her and her once soft features seemed like stone. a quick glance at me and he was leaving the car. i jumped out after her. if we go down, we go down together. we walked to the dilapidated front door and sandy placed a firm knock on it. i scoffed, "sandy. it's the scorpions. they aren't going to answer to a knock." she held up her hand to silence me and within a second, a greasy dark haired man opened the door. he nonchalantly leaned against the old door frame. "ladies hm? you seem too cute to be hookers..." he eyed us up and down taking in any skin that he could see. fucking pig. sandy cleared her voice while i made a noise of disgust. she let him finish filling his mental spank bank and then she spoke. "is leo here?" her voice was bubbly and light again but i knew it was all an illusion to get us through the door. a light smile came to the man's face as he nodded and muttered, "always here for the big guy."

we were lead through the old house and brought in front of a tightly shut door. the dark haired man knocket what sounded like morse code against the peeling wooden door. we heard heavy footsteps and then the door opened. "what do ya need, johnny-" leo paused and took in the sight of me and sandy. "leave us, woulda johnny? these are kenickie and zuko's girls." the dark haired male looked at us once again and smirked deviously. "birds in the scorpion den? see somethin' new everyday." before he left he got horribly close to me. i could smell the cheap cigarettes on his breath. "when kenickie becomes boring, i'll gladly take care of ya." he smirked again to which i grimaced at. once he was gone, leo ushered us into the small room that served as a makeshift office.

"so, what brings you australian dolls here?" leo sat behind an old wooden desk in a dusty office chair across from us. i left sandy to speak as i had no idea what her plan was. "well, we've lost some of our...friends," she began. leo quickly jumped in, "who? must be either zuko or kenickie since you two took the time to pay me a visit." sandy inhaled deeply and nodded, "yes, danny and putzie have gone missing, and honestly we have reason to believe you and the scorpions have something to do with it." leo faked hurt at this statement which i rolled my eyes at. he thinks this is funny?
i slammed my hands down on the ancient desk catching leo's attention. "listen balmudo, our friends are fucking missing. you got somethin' to do with it or not?" my voice was firm and filled with poison. the fight with kenickie earlier, this whole situation, and just my entire life was filling me with a type of anger i had not felt in a long time. leo was seemed startled for a second before regaining his confidence. "honey. you better calm-"
"don't you even dare. answer the question. otherwise we're wasting our time."
leo leaned back in his chair.
"why would you suspect lil old me? hm? is it cause our gang is better?"
i scoffed intentionally loud, "answer the fucking question." leo raised a brow and looked over at sandy. "the mouth on this one. you do this or kenickie?" i slammed my hands on the desk again, "i will wringe your fucking neck in front of all your lil goons if you don't answer me in the next 15 seconds." do i have the ability to do that? probably not. did i care? no, not in the moment anyway.

"fine fine," he finally gave in to my demands, "i ain't take 'em. though i wish i did. before you ask who, it was freddie. he's apart of the, uh, what are they...the cycle goblins? nah nah... what's their name?" sandy gasped at leo's information, "the cycle lords," she whispered. "the who?" i looked between the two of them. how many gangs are in this city? "ah!" leo sprung from his shitty desk chair, "yes! the cycle lords. my old pal freddie is their leader. if i don't have 'em, he does." i didn't believe it. how could a gang i've never even heard of kidnapped our guys? sandy on the other hand was practically shivering in her kitten heels. leo noticed and suppressed a laugh, "i'll have to tell freddie he finally got a girl's legs to shake because of him." i glared at him in response, "where do we find them."

leo gave us just enough information to tell us where to find them. sandy made me drive as she could barely keep her hands still. so, i drove faster than i should've, and we arrived downtown. we parked in front of some little store and walked until we found what we were looking for. there it stood, an old run down garage. why do all the rival gangs hang out in these shit holes? sandy lingered a few feet behind me obviously not wanting to be here at all if it wasn't to get her boyfriend. i raise my hand to the old metal garage door when sandy catches my wrist and stops me. "freddie is dangerous. maybe we should get the others and come back." i look at her my eyebrow furrowed together, "it's now or never sandy. i'm choosing now." with that, i knock my fist against the garage door loudly.

it creaks open sharply and behind it is a tall dark brown haired man. a puny mustache adorns his face and through the aviator sunglasses, he sneers at us. "what d'ya want." i take the stand as sandy gawks at the man. "we heard you have our friends." a lopsided smile glazes over the man's features.

"like a moth into the flame."
then it all went black.
