"Are you sure we can leave them?" Matéo asked Bruno, with the man placing the empty plate on the kitchen counter. He then treads toward Casita's enormous green entrance door, and the four children reluctantly followed.
After some consideration to bring the toddlers, Bruno opted to leave Mirabel, Camilo, and (Y/N) in the nursery room.
Lulu shifted uneasily with her hands clasped, worried about her younger sister and their friends. "But who will take care of them?"
"Mi hermana will." He points to the door. And as if summoned, the door opens to reveal Pepa entering with an orange towel in her arms.
Pepa notices Bruno with Secélia's kids, who greet her with a smile as if they've been expecting her arrival. "Bruno, what are you doing here? I thought you were taking care of them in the nursery?"
Bruno shrugs. "These kids wanted a tour around Encanto, but good thing you're here! You can look after the babies while we're gone."
The radiant light above abruptly dimmed, as the sun was shrouded by dense clouds. A gray cloud builds slowly above Pepa, but no rain falls. A brisk wind whips past them, making their hair and clothes flow in different directions. Given the blustery gust of air she's conjuring, Bruno senses her evident distress.
"Mamá warned you before, right? What if she does it again? You can't risk taking all of that, right?" She worriedly says, her arms hugging the orange towel in her hands for comfort.
The wind continued to swirl, and clouds of dust and dirt swiftly orbit around the floor, gradually illustrating the emerging shape of a hurricane. The hanging potted plants were pulled toward Pepa as if it were being dragged into a black hole, its only restraint was the wires negligently hooked to the ceiling.
"What if these kids found out that—"
Bruno runs to her arms in a frantic rush, calming her cyclone of rising worry. "Pepa, I'll be fine, don't worry." He sends her a gentle smile. The similar assuasive smile she had always seen since they were little kids.
She gives him one last anxious look. Seeing that he was still persistent, she sighs, conceding to him. Pepa couldn't stop her brother with that determined glitter in his eyes.
"Alright." She slides her hands to hold his, tenderly squeezing them. "But remember to stay out of accidents, okay? You'll be held responsible if anything bad happens to these kids!" She warns, her hold tightening as she places emphasis on each word. Bruno winces, and like a crumpled paper, his body folds in pain at her tight hold, knees buckling and slowly falling down in front of her.
Disregarding her brother's obvious agony, Pepa's head peers behind Bruno's, looking at the kids with a beaming smile. Few leaves fall down as the clouds disperse around the sky, revealing the sun back into view. "Have fun with your señor!" She flutters her fingers at them.
The children could only glance at each other in confusion.
Outside, under the warm rays and the bright blue canvas of the sky, the children happily walk down the mountain of Casita along with Bruno, astonished by the houses and the lively, busy atmosphere of the village.
