For what felt like hours, Kita kept wandering through the forest of Wonderland. She was exhausted mentally and physically, wandering aimlessly.

Along the way, she got to see just how strange Wonderland was, even in comparison to Northern Territories beyond Sybilius. There were small animals that looked to be hybrids of instruments, treats, or other creatures. Such as a fiddle-back spider that quite literally had a tiny fiddle for a body, a deer mouse with little antlers and a deer tail, and a fruit bat that had a suspiciously plum-like body. There were also plants that almost seemed sentient -and not in the way the flowers were, earlier. One fern sneezed as she walked by it, and one type of narrow tree had vines that felt about like tentacles.

Every once in a while, Kita would stop to rest, but could only focus on how unfamiliar the path was, and how lonely. It was quickly killing off what little remained of her faith. The only thing that made her pick herself up was the thought of finding Seyber, and hopefully finding out what was happening.

About an hour into her trek, though, she managed to find a sandy trail. Even that turned out to be futile, though. It kept forking, and the split paths branched off into even more twisted paths. By now, she came across a wild criss-cross of senseless ways. On the trees, there were signs pointing in different directions.

'This way'

'That way'

'Her way'

'The other way'

'His way'

Kita sighed, "None of these make sense."

She stopped again, looking around more. Unfortunately, she couldn't see any footprints or movement, or any other sign that would indicate someone passing by. The forest looked even lonelier than before, though. None of the paths looked intriguing, either. There were no structures in sight.

"When was the last time I saw Seyber, anyway?" Kita murmured. "I saw her run by just before I came across that cottage, and followed her trail into the backyard. Then I shrunk down to evade Echo; that completely threw off my sense of direction, and for what?" She hesitated. "I guess it did allow me to meet Mao and Yuna. Even as flowers, it was nice to see them again. Then again, I also had to deal with Aina and Nagiri, which was indescribably annoying..." She groaned, "Ugh! Why can't I just find my friend?!"

"Heh heh heh..."

Kita recognized that wicked laughter, but it almost immediately filled her with fright and dread. She retreated with her back against the tree, looking closely at her surroundings.

She didn't see anything standing out at first, but soon, one of the tree's leaves stretched very strangely. As she looked closer, Kita could see it clearly. A crescent shape, almost like a very wide smile.

Then it struck her, and she froze.

"It can't be..."

The thing chortled again, and the crescent shape twisted. A body suddenly phased in behind it, starting with burning red eyes and leading into a bony body of charcoal and vibrant red stripes. Its tail was almost twice as long as itself, tipped with a blade, and its front paws looked like hands with gnarled black claws. Even as a cat, and a creature Kita didn't know much about, there was no mistaking who it really was.
