As Kita followed the group of card guards, she tried to keep her head down. They completely surrounded her, so she couldn't even see where she was going.

She anxiously thought to herself, How do I get out of this? Can I get out of this?

By the time she was stopped, and the guards stepped back, she realized she was in a large courtroom. Jury benches were on either side of the room, each with one large eye set in the dark wood -realistic eyes with irises shaped like hearts. Many card guards sat on the benches, eager to begin the trial. Clearly uneasy, Kita was standing behind a red podium. Across from her, on a card-themed platform, the Queen of Hearts sat on a very gaudy golden throne with rubies speckled about it. Next to the throne, off the platform so it rested below the Queen, there was a witness bench with another eye set in the front of the dark wood. The White Rabbit stood just in front of the platform, with a scroll in hand.

The White Rabbit cleared her throat. "Miz Alice, you have been brought here today under the accusation of treason and attacking our very own Queen of Hearts. How do you defend?"

Kita crossed her arms. "This is ridiculous."

The Queen slammed her fist down. "Foolish girl, you dare to enter Queensland and disrespect me?! Let's speed this up, so we can get to the good part."

The Rabbit nodded. "First witness!"

One moment later, the large doors opened, and a group of card guards trudged inside. They were escorting Captain Dodo, who was merrily swinging her walking stick as her tail feathers ruffled with each stride. The sight of her familiar face made Kita feel less confident, but she tried not to show it.

Captain Dodo jumped up on the witness bench.

The White Rabbit stepped forth. "Captain Dodo, is it true that you were the first one to meet Alice in her return to Wonderland?"

"Yup," the Dodo chimed. "Firecracker, that one. I can't say I'm surprised she'd do something like this; she would've done anything to spite the boss. Doesn't like authority one bit, I say."

"What?!" Kita cried. "Jem, you're not helping!"

"That's a charge for rebellion!" The White Rabbit called. "Second witness!"

The Dodo was led away, replaced by more 'witnesses.' Barely keeping these ones in line, the card guards brought in Tweedledee and Tweedledum.

The White Rabbit spoke again, "Boys, is it true that you confronted Alice in her tyrannical march?"

"That's right!" Tweedledee -Scorch- said.

"Very dangerous," Tweedledum -Zin- remarked.

"Very curious, she was."

"Curiosity leads to trouble."

"And trouble is exactly what she was!"

Kita groaned, "Dammit..."

The White Rabbit growled, "What a cruel little girl. Next!"

Just like the last witness, the boys were led away. Kita was discouraged and irritated at this point, hoping everything would disappear as quickly as it came; she wanted Wonderland to sink into a void, and for all its people -or phantoms of them- to fade away. However, every time she opened her eyes again, there was just more of the same chaos.

The card guards dragged in another witness. This time, it was the Duchess's chef, who was still carrying her beloved pepper grinder. They got her situated fast, and the White Rabbit began chanting again. Kita didn't even bother listening to her, but kept watching the witnesses.
