Moon Continent Explorer's Guild, West Coast Branch, Team Stellar's Room
While Avery was trying to cast the transformation spell, Rudy, who was currently taking a power nap in his team quarters, awoke with a shudder, as did Sophia moments later.
"Wh-why did I just shudder?" Sophia said, shocked.
"Yeah, that is weird..." Rudy said. "We might just be hungry." He took unclipped his badge from his scarf that was a hanging on his bedpost, turning it on to check the time. "I mean, it is... 6:55! We definitely need to get down to the dining hall, fast!" Rudy quickly put his scarf on, got down from the bed and started to rush out the door all at the same time. Sophia tried to get down herself, but faceplanted on the floor, and Rudy came back.
"Oh, right, you've never walked as a vulpix yet," the sylveon said as he used two of his feelers to pick up his friend, as well as a third to take the still-asleep Wayne, and carry them out the door.
In the dining hall, everyone else had already finished eating, but the guildmaster had told them to wait until Rudy arrived so he could say something very important. Ryan looked over at the table where Rudy's friends and teammates were sitting, hoping the sylveon would arrive soon.
"You know, it's too bad Team Waterburn was among the teams that got transferred to the central branch of the Moon Continent Explorer's Guild in Miobach City," the glaceon said. "And just after they finally evolved, too! I think they would have liked to see Rudy again."
"Yeah," Lena added, "but those teams have proven themselves as being among the best of the best in terms of exploration teams."
"Who knows?" Ben said, shrugging. "Maybe Sofia and the others will come back sometime. In the meantime, it frees up room for those guys."
The cinderace gestured towards the twenty-four living objects that populated the tables that would otherwise have been empty that night.
"What's up with them, anyways?" Ben continued. "I know you said they're from some TV show in your world-"
"Technically an internet series, but same difference," Ryan corrected.
"Yeah, that, but... I mean, how did they get here?"
"I think they said it was a portal? And apparently the same one Rudy and those other three pokemon came from, which definitely makes this all more interesting." The glaceon put a forepaw to his chin in thought. "But the real question is, why? And how?"
"Oh, it sure is beyond my knowledge," Milo said, nervously shrugging. "I guess we may never find out!"
Kori tilted her head. "Uh, Milo... is there something you know that we don't?"
"W-what? No! Of course not!"
The luxray rolled her eyes. "Right." Just then, she noticed a familiar uniquely-colored sylveon entering the room, carrying Sophia and a litten. "Ah, Rudy's here!"
Milo sighed with relief, and Avery propped himself up on the table. "Hey Rudy! We pushed these two tables together so we could all sit together!" the umbreon said excitedly.
As Rudy headed in that direction, a scowl on his face, Sophia spoke up.
"Honestly, that level of excitement is kinda underwhelming compared to what I expected from him, you know what I mean?"
"Maybe the initial excitement of being in another world is wearing off on him, and the reality will start to set in," Rudy replied. "Either way, it'll probably be much easier to convince him to come home with us when the time comes."
The vulpix scoffed. "Hopefully, but I doubt it."
After he set her down on a chair, she had a remarkably easy time sitting up. Belle was about to say something when microphone feedback could be heard, prompting them both to cringe.
