The party was loud and bustling with people, and unlike what Milo had said, it wasn't just sophomores that had turned up.

Of course there wasn't, Ruby thought, it was a party.

People showed up who weren't invited, and nobody cared.

So that meant there were freshmans, sophomores, juniors and seniors all piling in for drinks and dancing.

Milo didn't care, as he had known it would happen.

Ruby turned up at nine, and was surprised to see it was already busy.

She grabbed a can of beer and made her way over to Kaleb and her friends, all surrounding a table.

They were playing 'shot or not' with shots of vodka.

The only problem was, there were shots under every cup, so they were already getting wasted.

"Hey dudes..." Ruby said, downing the cup and discarding it. "Can I join?"

Kaleb staggered over and put his arm round her neck, trying to place a kiss on her neck.

She jerked away and laughed. "That a yes?"

"Yeah," he smiled.

"Cool..." Ruby didn't care about winning, and couldn't care less about how many shots she took.

Ruby lay across Milo's couch, Kaleb's shoulder serving as a pillow.

It was four in the morning and everyone had either left or passed out around Milo's house.

Ruby stirred, her vision blurred and her thoughts cloudy.

She had the typical question running through her mind 'what'd I do last night?'.

And then it came to her.

Lots of dancing, lots of drinking, and some dodgy pills.

She sat up properly, glancing at Kaleb and then at the people around her.

She knew Kaleb's parents, and they wouldn't be happy if he was out all night.

Ruby shook him gently, and he began to wake up.

"It's stupid time, dude, uh, I'll drive you back to yours?" She mumbled.

He nodded sleepily, and staggered to his feet.

Ruby and Kaleb made their way across Milo's living room and out the front door.

They got into Kaleb's car, Ruby at the wheel.

She took a moment to collect herself, and refocus on the world around her.

He handed her the keys and she started up the engine.

"That was lit..." Kaleb sighed.

"Yeah, but we're gonna be absolutely wasted tomorrow." Ruby laughed, winding the car round each bend to his house.

"True, true, but wasn't it worth it?" Kaleb said.

"I'm not too sure, cause I can't remember anything."

They both laughed as Ruby swerved onto Kaleb's street.

She pulled up by his house, and yawned.

"You're just going to walk home on your own?" Kaleb asked.

"Yeah, it's barely a five minutes walk." She said, getting out the driver's seat.

Kaleb walked around the front of the car to her.

"I never got that kiss, Rubes,"

She rolled her eyes. "Ah, so you remember that detail?"

"Ruby! I love you!" He said.

"No you don't, Kaleb! I'm going home!"

Kaleb grabbed her hands and pulled her in close. "I do, Rubes! Please stop pushing me away,"

"I'm sorry, Kaleb, I don't feel the same way." She replied, letting her hands drop to her sides.

Tears welled in his eyes. "Come on, seriously? You couldn't even try to love me?"

"I can't. It's not fair. And you're always like this after a lot of alcohol, you'll get over it!"

"I won't! Ruby, I'm serious, I know I'm drunk, but I always feel this way about you." Kaleb said sorrowfully.

"I'm going home. See you at school." Ruby sighed, turning away to leave.

"Fine then..." Kaleb replied, defeated.

"See you at school." Ruby sighed
