The crypt was the size of a big shed, made of carved stone and corrugated iron.

It was eerie, with no lights surrounding it.

Ruby took a deep breath, watching as Tate fiddled with the lock.

"You're not very good at that, are you?" Ruby remarked, as he was once again unsuccessful.

"Like you could even do it,"  he chuckled, standing back and gesturing to the padlock.

Ruby smirked and took the offer, taking the tiny Allan key he was using and shoving it in the lock.

She knelt down next to it, listening carefully for each crunch of the gears.

After less than a minute, it gave a victory click and gave way, falling to the leave-covered ground.

Ruby smiled triumphantly, standing up next to him. "How's that for breaking and entering?"

Tate nodded slowly in wonder. "Shit. You're the real deal."

"What do you mean?" Ruby asked as Tate opened up the iron door into the ominous crypt.

"You know what you're doing, Ruby, it's slightly intimidating," he laughed, opening it up and indicating for her to enter.

"No, you first." Ruby said. "I'm not going first just to be locked in there forever,"

Tate's mouth curved into a sad frown. "You don't trust me?"

"No. I only talked to you for the first time at lunch, and everyone knows you live in the Murder House! It's batshit crazy there." Ruby said, throwing her arms out in protest.

Tate looked taken aback, his frown falling away into a sad smile. "I'm sorry- Ruby, I'm  sorry that you have trust issues, and I get it. But I don't want to hurt you."

"Go in first then, Tate." Ruby said in a hushed tone. She didn't want to admit her fears to him.

He nodded, his lips pressed tightly together to suppress whatever he wanted to say.

He walked in slowly, standing in one corner as Ruby followed him in.

She prayed he couldn't hear her racing heart.

She reluctantly closed the door, shifting about in the darkness.

"What now then?" Ruby asked nervously.

"Ok. I want you to feel the way you do when you know the ghosts are there. Imagine seeing them, focus on it." Tate instructed.

"Yeah, I'll try that..." Ruby felt stupid, but she didn't know what else she could do.

She closed her eyes, scrunching up her fists as she pictured the ghosts.

Her heart skipped a beat as she felt herself being watched. Not by Tate, but by something else.

"Oh fuck, I can feel one of them, they're here..." Ruby whispered hurriedly, squeezing her eyes shut more.

"Ok, focus harder, you can do this." Tate said, his eyes widening.

Now she could see shapes, figures appearing through her closed eyes.

She took a sudden step back, her breath catching in her throat.

"Oh my god." Tate said.

"What!?" Ruby exclaimed.

"Don't open your eyes! Keep focusing!" He replied urgently, he placed a gentle hand on her arm, trying to calm her.

"Tate what's happening? What's going on?" Ruby said as her nails drew blood from the tension.

"I don't think you're mad. And if you are then I am too." He replied.

"I don't think that's saying much..." Ruby opened her eyes slowly. "WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK-!!"

Ruby's hands glowed faintly white, and there was a dozen ghosts screaming silently at her and Tate.

Once she saw them, their screams met the teens' ears.

Ruby stumbled backwards, Tate catching her.

"Tate- do you see them!?" Ruby shrieked.

"I do! I actually fucking do and I'm not going to lie- I'm fucking terrified." He said fearfully, trying to edge towards the door whilst practically hugging Ruby.

"FUCK OFF GHOSTS!" Ruby shouted as they screeched at them.

Their ghastly faces grew closer, and Ruby tugged away from Tate's grip, screaming and shouting at the ghosts with rage.

"YOU SHOULD GO FUCK OFF AND GET A LIFE! YOU DIRT BASTARDS PICKING ON A COUPLE OF TEENS WITH PARENT PROBLEMS! FUCK. OFF!!!!" Ruby hollered viciously.

Tate kicked the door open, and grabbed Ruby's arm, tugging her through the door.

The two collapsed onto the leaves and grass, scrambling away from the crypt as fast as they possibly could.

As the screaming from the ghouls continued, Ruby stumbled to her feet, taking Tate's hand and pulling him to his.

"LEG IT!" She yelled, letting go and racing past the tombs.

She lunged over the graveyard wall, rolling onto the pavement and scuffing her palms and exposed knees.

Tate followed equally as clumsy, and they both hid behind a car, backed up against it as they panted.

"That was fucking wild." Ruby spluttered, taking Tate's hand in shock, wanting to check it wasn't a dream. "You okay?"

Tate laughed, hanging his head. "Oh, I'm great, I just couldn't be better."

"How did you know how to get that to happen?" Ruby said, breathing warm air on her hands to ease the sting.

"I don't know. Just seemed like the right thing to say." He sighed.

"I'd say thank you, but I might be lying." Ruby said, tilting her head to look at him.

He smiled. "Well now you know you're not going insane."

"Yeah. Thanks for that," Ruby smiled back. "I could do with another drink- what about you?"

"It's only fair, wash away the edge," Tate shrugged.

"Right then! My cars just a bit away," Ruby smiled.
