"Libby!! ,come on we got to get a move on!"I hear my mother yelling for me.

"Coming mama!"I make my way down the stairs slowly. "Come on, libby, we have to get a move

on the road. Come help me put the rest of the bags in the car". I pick up the bags to place them

in the car. I got in the car as my mother placed the keys to the house in the lockbox. My mother

got in the car and we set off to my grandmother's house.

We're leaving our house in Richmond, Virginia to live with my grandmother in Monroe,

Georgia. We were doing well in Virginia  with my parents working for the government but then

my dad died from prostate cancer two years ago. We were staying a float after he died living off

his life insurance but the money ran out paying for leftover hospital bills. Now we can't afford to

live just on my mother's salary, so we're gonna stay with my Grandma Ester. We were on the

road for hours, we talked, listened to music, stopped for snacks and gas. Our plan was to stay

awake for the whole seven hours it'll take to get to grandma, however just a few hours in I

 promptly fell asleep.

"Hey Libby, we're here, come on", I hear my mother trying to wake me. She pushed my leg a

couple times before I opened my eyes. When I opened my eyes, I saw my grandmother's house

and my grandmother standing on her porch waiting for us. It was around five in the afternoon in

hot July, so the sun was still shining at this point. I stepped out of the car to stretch and my

mother did the same. Coming down the stairs was my grandmother with her arms prepared for

an embrace, "oh my Libby-beth", she says as gives me the biggest bear hug this little old lady

could. She took my hand and led my mother and I into her house.

After we finished bringing in the rest of the bags in the house we settled in the kitchen, my

grandmother went straight to her oven and pulled out a whole chicken and turned to us with a

smile then said "Dinner is ready". We sat at the table and had dinner while telling my

grandmother about our journey down here. As I cleaned up the table I noticed a stack of

newspapers on my grandmother's kitchen counter. "Hey Grandma, These newspapers recent?".

"Um yeah the top ones are from today and yesterday.", she replied. "Mama, why do you have all

those?"mom asked as she brung dishes into the kitchen. " oh, the neighbor's boy is doing some

school project and asked me to save some," she explained.

"Hey, um Libby-beth, Why do you want a job around here? Aren't you in school?".

"oh yeah, mama said we can't really afford it right now after paying off daddy's medical bills".

My grandmother looked at me with sympathy, she came to sit beside me and said "Hey, you're

only 19 years old, you have your whole life ahead of you, you don't have to do school now.". "

Thanks, Mama E. Well I'm gonna go start unpacking, so I'll see y'all later", I say as I make my way

 up to my room.
