"Yo Elizabeth get up, now!", Alijah came rushing into my room in a panic. "What?", I asked. I sat up to see my cousin looking out my window down at the front yard. "What happened?", I started to panic as well. "That girl from the bonfire that you fought. She's here with the police".
"Are you for real?", I jumped out of bed to look out the window. I could see her walking up to the house still fashion ing the black eye and busted lip. "This bitch really can't take an ass-whooping and move on with her life.", my cousin huffed out. I went to my closet to change out of my pajamas. I tried not to show it but I was in a panic, I really couldn't focus.
"What are you doing?", Alijah asked.
"I'm going down there before she twists up the story", I said sliding up my pants. I thought about the numerous outcomes of the situation and most of them didn't end in my favor.
"Elizabeth can you come down here, please.", my mother yelled out. Alijah looked at me waiting for my next move.
"Wish me luck", I said with a defeated smile.
I slowly walked downstairs, feeling like a teenager getting in trouble for something at school.
In the living room stood my mother, David, Charlotte, and two men I had never seen before. One of the me was standing in his full police uniform, and the other one, also a cop, was in his street clothes.
"Ma, What's going on?", I said trying to act clueless.
"Um, Elizabeth. This young lady is saying that you attacked her at some party.". My mother stared at me begging for clarification. "There are witnesses, so don't try to lie.", Charlotte spoke.
I ignored her even though I wanted to walk over there and beat her again. Before I said anything I looked to my mother who seemed to pleading with her eyes. Telling me to not make any more trouble.
"Yes we had an altercation", I spoke with my head down.
"You attacked me!", Charlotte screamed.
"Charlotte please stop.", the man out of uniform spoke.
"But daddy, these animals have no home training", Charlotte spat while looking at me.
"Excuse Me-", My mother blurted.
"Don't worry, I got this.", David assured my mother.
Robert, How do you want to proceed? Do you still want to press charges?", David said in a threatening manner.
"W-well, Charlotte is fine, Right? And t-there is no need to drag this out. We're all adults here, I'm sure we can figure something out.", Robert stumbled out.
"NO! I'm the victim here! That animal almost killed me!", Charlotte growled. Charlotte was getting angry at the fact that she wasn't getting her way.
"Oh please, almost killed my ass. You're just mad she popped you in that mouth.", Alijah spoke from the stairs.
"Alijah, please go back upstairs", My mother said.
"Fine, she's lucky it wasn't me 'cause I wouldn't have stopped", Alijah stomped upstairs.
"Okay, I think apologies are in order on both sides. As long as the girls agree to stay away from each other. We can move on", Robert suggests.
"I think that is a great idea. Don't you Elizabeth?", David asked. He looked at me with a ridged look on his face. I rolled my eyes but looked at my mother and mouthed the word 'please'. I stepped up to apologize. I wanted to get this over with and get Charlotte out of the house.
