"What do you need two bedrooms for? Y'all not gonna sleep in the same bed?", Alijah asked crossing out apartments in the classified section of the newspaper.

"I don't know, we really haven't reached that stage yet".

"Really? I thought that would have happened a long time ago. Especially now since he's staying in Mama's E office shed.".

"It's not that I don't want to, believe me, I do. It just hasn't been the right time. Plus I'm a little scared 'cause I haven't done it before.", I explained.

"Have y'all at least gotten close, caught up in the moment?", Alijah questioned.

"I guess we're taking it slow", I shrugged.

"Where is he, anyway? Alijah asked.

"He took Mama E to her Doctor's appointment.".

"Girl, He must really love you.", Alijah said crossing out more apartments.

"I don't know about love but he likes me a lot", I said with giddiness in my voice.

"Alijah! Elizabeth! We're back!", I hear my grandmother call out. We rushed downstairs to see Mama E and Daryl holding ten bags from multiple different stores.

"I thought you were just going to your doctor's appointment. Yall went shopping?", I asked.

"Yes, we did. I can do that because I'm grown. Besides we just picked up some things for your mother's wedding. And stopped by Kay's Jewelers", She smirked and nudged Daryl. He looked back at her and smiled.

"Ok, Whatever that was," I said pointing out their exchange. "What did your doctor say?".

"The usual, I need to eat better, stop stressing, same old nonsense.", Mama E sounded annoyed.

"Maybe you should start listening to your Doctor. I don't want to lose you.", I told her.

"Sweetheart, you don't have to worry. I'll be fine. I"m gonna live forever.", Mama E rubbed my back.

"Do you need any help?", I asked.

"No, Alijah can help. You and Daryl can go to the shed,", She spoke as she winked at Daryl.

He smiled back at her and took my hand, "Come on".

"What's going on with y'all?", I asked Daryl.

He didn't say anything. He just continues to lead me to his shed/ bedroom.

"Babe, What are we doing?".

He still didn't say anything. Once we entered, He sat me down on his bed since he didn't have any chairs.

"I got this for you", he said as he pulled out a box from his pocket.

"What is this?"

"Well since your birthday is on Thanksgiving this year and you haven't said anything about wanting any type of celebration. I thought I'd give you your gift early.".

"That's really sweet, Daryl. I honestly didn't think you would remember since I told you a while ago.".

"Of course, I would remember. I want to remember everything about you.", He lifted my chin and stared deep into my eyes. "You're the most important thing in my life".

"Oh I am?", I teased.

He leaned down to kiss me. "Yes, now open your gift.

I opened the box and was met with a diamond-encrusted heart with an arrow through it. It was beautiful.

"Elizabeth"

I looked up from the necklace and was met with Daryl's piercing blue eyes.

"I love you."
