I lay awake, unbelieving. Unbelieving of my luck. Unbelieving of my chances. The sunlight beaming through the small window shines onto my face, blinding me. It's early morning. With a groan, I get out of bed. I've already decided that today, I would tell them, so there's no point sleeping in. To my surprise, several people are already awake. "Hey, Violet! Good morning!" Jimmy calls, with a slight wave. "Why do you still have mud on your face? I thought you'd have washed it off!" I avoid his question.
"Good morning," says Ethan from behind a computer. Kazuki gives a sort of acknowledging mutter.
"There's breakfast on the counter," Jimmy says. Toast with some not-so-fresh fruit. Instead of getting a plate, I sit down. "Um, guys? You know how yesterday you were telling me about yourselves?"
"Yeah.." says Jimmy.
"Well... I forgot to tell you about me, so..." I took a deep breath. It was now or never. "I..." I look down. "...am part zombie." What follows is, to be honest, less chaotic than I was expecting. Kazuki, who has been silent until this point, stands up so quickly you can barely see it happen, and draws his katana. Ethan flinches and his computer launches across the room, the screen cracking. Jimmy yells, "WHAT?!" and stands up, backing away. I flinch back. "I don't have to... eat humans. I'm safe, as far as I know." I mutter nervously.
"That's not good enough!" Kazuki yells.
"My computer!" Ethan says, crouching over the shattered screen.
"Wait! We can't just kill her!" Jimmy says. "She hasn't even tried to eat us yet!"
"And I would like to study this fascinating phenomenon!" Adds Ethan.
With an angry, disgusted look, Kazuki finally backs off. "You stay away from me!" He says, walking off. We all stand in silence, until-
"Hey, what'd I miss?" Wesley says, walking in with a piece of toast.
