(Steven's POV)
I sit on my bed and try to collect my thoughts and calm myself after what I just did. I know I shouldn't be losing my temper like I've been, but I couldn't take it anymore. People always try to cut me down for no reason other than to satisfy themselves. And I'm tired of it, plain and simple.
I hear the door open downstairs. Soon Connie comes upstairs and sits next to me, hugging me to calm me down. I think I feel worse because she saw me in that state of mind. I hurt Holly Blue in front of her. Yeah, it was to save her after Holly kidnapped her, but...did I go too far?
"Steven.....are you OK? You're scaring me. And the Gems are worried too. No one's used to seeing you like this." She said as I sighed. I really didn't want to worry her but she's my girlfriend. I have to learn to be honest and open with her and Spinel. That kinda comes with the territory in a relationship.
"I guess I'm just tired, Connie. I'm tired of people always cutting me down when I'm trying to do good. Kevin has always had it out for me. I hate him. He's nothing but a bully and I won't lie: I'm glad I put him in his place. I'm glad I ran him off. I'm glad I....." I began to say.
"Punched his car so hard that it skipped like a rock across the water? Scared the daylights out of everyone who saw it? Threatened to kill Kevin in front of everyone? Said that you could kill him if you wanted to?" Connie said.
"I get it, OK? Maybe I went too far, but Kevin deserved it. Holly Blue deserved it. Bluebird deserved it. All of them deserved what I did to them, alright?!? I'm sick of people like them trying to always cut me down and hurt me!!! I'm tired of taking all of this, Connie!!!" I snapped, my skin turning Pink as Connie backed up in fear.
I looked at her and noticed she was scared. Probably having flashbacks of what I did to Holly Blue.
"Connie, I..." I began to say but she just walked out, leaving me there alone and making me feel worse than before. I just sat back on my bed and collected my thoughts, once again by myself.
But I could hear the door open again and in walked Connie but this time Spinel was with her. I had forgotten she had gone to check in with the Diamonds.
"Hey Stevie! What's with you scaring Connie like that? You better be ready to make up for it!" She said in a playful way as I could see a small smile on Connie's face.
I smiled. It was clear they knew what they were doing.
"You're right. And I do owe you two a date, last time I checked. Funland, right? Let's go." I said as I came downstairs and after Connie hugged and kissed me, we headed to Funland. I owed them that much at least.
(At Funland)
"Look, Connie! The heart plushie is still there!" Spinel said as Connie looked at me and smiled. I knew what that meant as I went up to the test of strength where Mr Smiley was.
"Ah, Steven. Looks like Connie brought you as backup today? Try not to break the machine." He said as I lifted the hammer and brought it down as the bell went off, showing that I had won.
"Yay!!" Spinel cheered as I handed the heart plushie to her, earning a kiss on the cheek as Connie looked at me. It was clear what happened earlier between us was still on her mind.
"Hey. Let's sit down somewhere so we can talk." I said as we soon found a bench.
"Connie, I'm sorry for how I went off on you earlier and for...how I've been lately." I said as Connie hugged me as did Spinel.
"Seeing you do what you did to Holly Blue scared me. But I understand why you got like that. But hearing what you did to Kevin is what scared me the most. I don't want you to become someone who's reliant on violence, Steven. I don't want you to become something you've always hated. I love you, Steven Universe." Connie said as I kissed her on the forehead.
"I love you too, Connie. And I'm sorry. I'll do my best to keep calm from now on." I said as Spinel smiled and kissed us both.
"Aww. You two are so cute, ya know? I love ya both!" She said as we soon got up and left Funland to head back home.
Steven's temper has been calmed by Connie and Spinel.
