[Y/N]
THE NEXT MORNING I WAS THE FIRST ONE TO WAKE UP. I got up silently trying to make as less noise as possible for, I didn't want to wake the two up. Enola looked like she needed rest while Tewkesbury looked so peaceful while sleeping that I didn't have it in my heart to wake him up. Embarrassed as I may be, I do have to admit he is quite handsome.
Not that I would fall for a boy like him, if I ever fall for a boy at all. Sometimes I just think I'll spend the rest of my life alone, or well by myself. The only company I see myself having in the future is books and, of course, Anthony. It may sound depressing but the thought of it does not scare me a tiny bit.
However I can not deny I find a strange feeling of comfort in the presence of Enola and Tewkesbury, which is rather strange as I am not a person who will trust somebody easily. People who are foolish enough to trust people that are in reality just an acquaintance are the only type of people I do not understand.
Yet here I am, trusting two strangers and talking to them about things I'd refuse even mention in front of someone who I do not find trustworthy enough.
"Good you're awake" said Enola who was now standing up. I must have been too caught up in my mind to notice she awoken. "Should we wake him up?" I asked looking at the boy who was still asleep. She nodded before shaking him awake. "Get up!" she ordered.
The boy opened his eyes with confusion written all over his face. "Why are you shouting?" he asked in a raspy voice. "I am not shouting. Now get up, we have to go" she said even more loudly. I couldn't help but laugh at the boy's annoyed face. Noticing that he turned his head to look at me and shot me a glare, which turned into a smile pretty fast.
Let's at least enjoy the company as long as it lasts.
WE WERE LUCKY TO FIND A MAN WHO AGREED TO TAKE US TO LONDON. Even though we had to hear the constant bleating of the sheep that didn't stop us from casually conversing. "Well I guess you could say that" Enola said, to which the boy chuckled. I let out a laugh too but the smile disappeared from my face as soon as I realised we were nearing the town. Not even twenty minutes later we had reached the city.
"So this is where we part?" asked Tewkesbury when me and Enola got off the cart. "I suppose to is" I said pulling down the sleeves of my shirt to cover my wrists. "Then thank you Enola Holmes and Y/n L/n for helping me here."
"You are supposed to have forgot those names" Enola reminded him, but the smile on her face was still visible. "Then you'll have to find another" he told us before the cart started moving again, the distance growing between us and the boy. "He'll be fine" Enola said turning to me.
"I'm not so sure about that" I grinned. "Well you are probably correct" the girl smiled. "So this is where we part too?" I asked, getting a nod by the girl as a response. "I'm afraid so" the girl said. "Well then, this is the part where I say goodbye" I said taking a step forward to hug the girl. She seemed a little shaken by my action as she was not expecting that, however she did hug me back.
"Good luck" she said after she pulled away before walking away and blending in with the people walking on the busy streets of London. I don't need luck, I have a plan and that's all I need, I reassured myself.
WALKING DOWN THE BUSY STREETS OF LONDON I TRIED TO REMEMBER THE WAY TO LOUISA'S DRESS SHOP. I had been in London with my mother on a few occasions and Louisa was a good friend of mother's, something I'd never completely understand as they were completely opposite. My mother was a strong woman who would always speak her mind while Louisa was quieter and pretty shy. As I said the complete opposite. But as ity is written in my science book, opposites attract. That's the only explanation I have ever came up with.
Now you may be wondering why would I be heading to a dress shop. Well considering the owner is a very close friend of mother's she might as well know where I'd find her, even though I doubt it. Plus I do need at least one dress for me to blend in. Not all people are blind enough to not notice that I don't look like a boy at all.
The ringing of the bell as I pushed the door open was heard and I soon came face to face with a middle aged woman. "Hello Louisa" I greeted her. "Y/n" she said softly before pulling me in for a hug. "You smell weird, almost as if you'd sleep on the grass" she said pulling away.
"What are you doing here and why are you dressed as a boy?" she asked taking notice of my clothes. "Well, that's quite a lot to explain. Do you have anything for me to change into? I can't really keep walking around like this, even though I want to" I laughed looking down.
"Of course" she smiled before reaching for a forest green dress. "Why don't you try that on? I think it would suit you" she said handing it to me. "Thank you."
Grabbing the dress I walked into a smaller room for me to change. Pulling the laces of my corset I tied them carefully before letting myself breath again. A corset is not something I would be seen wearing, especially in my own will. However it is seemed as inappropriate for a woman my age not to wear one and I really want to go unnoticed so it is the only way.
Pulling down the love sleeves of my dress I undo my hear from the messy bun I had pulled them in. I decided I'd just leave my hair down and moved on to putting my shoes on. A pair of black boots that made me seem slightly taller do to the heels.
After paying for my dress (much to Louisa's dislike) I bid her goodbye and left the shop. Walking down the busy streets of London I tried to make my way to the end of the street. I remembered a little hotel that was located there as for some reason it had never failed to catch my attention whenever we passed from there. I and Alice once convinced mother to have tea at the little restaurant which was part of the hotel and let me tell you it was just lovely.
A FEW HOURS LATER I WAS SITTING ON BED MUCH MORE COMFORTABLE THAN THE ROUGH GROUND I HAD SLEPT ON LAST NIGHT. A newspaper was opened in front of me, already read. I tried to completely ignore Tewkesbury's face on the first page, something I did not find hard at all. I had to focus and reset my plan.
I was trying to find a way of contacting my mother. I'd write two letters, one for each one of the two addresses my mother sent letters too quite often. Both of the addresses matched with a house and I decided I'd be delivering the letters myself.
There was one more address my mother had correspondence with. However that address belonged to a tea shop and I had planned for me to stop by the in the next few days.
Too tired, I decided I finally needed some sleep. Blowing out the candle I let myself slip under the warm blankets allowing myself to drift into a dreamless sleep.
