Katie was sat in the Mercedes garage for the last race of the season as the last lap was starting and at this stage she was pretty sure her fingers nails were bitten off.

A safety car had been brought out of Nicholas Latifi hit the wall and now the lap cars that separated Max from Lewis were allowed to over take but not the ones behind Max.

And then suddenly, in the blink of an eye the last lap unfolded and before anyone knew the chequered flag was waved and Max Verstappen was champion of the world.

He had managed to pass Lewis during the lap and the Brit just couldn't get back passed the younger driver in the short distance left.

Katie, like everyone else in the Mercedes garage was gutted. But most of them were actually angry. Toto had angry ripped his headphones off and threw them on the ground in frustration.

The Williams girl turned and make contact with Lewis's dad who was standing a few feet away from her. She had met him this morning after he flew out for the race.

Anthony simply smiled at the brown haired girl and shrugged his shoulders. There was nothing they could do now except comfort Lewis.

But Toto had other plans and was shouting around the garage looking for the team's lawyer who they had brought with them to Abu Dhabi this weekend.

Angela sighed a few feet away from Katie as the screen showed the cars returning to the pit lane as teams started leaving their garages and heading for the podium.

Katie walked down the pit lane with Angela in silence before the blonde haired woman broke it.

"He's gonna wanna see you." Angela spoke catching Katie by surprise.

"What?" Katie wondered.

"Lewis. After all this, he's gonna wanna see you. He speaks very highly of you, Katie." Angela explained before they arrived at the group of people behind the barrier.

Red Bull we're celebrating like crazy and rightly so. This year has been nothing short of hectic and for Max to win his first world championship on the last lap of the last race was pretty spectacular.

But right now Katie was feeling for Lewis. He had been driving exceptionally today and definitely deserved the race him today which ultimately would've lead to his 8th championship win.

Katie could see Lewis by pass the barriers after getting weighed by the FIA and went into their garage followed by his dad.

She watched as Anthony pulled his oldest son into an embrace and she could only imagine the emotions running through the pair.

Anthony whispered words of encouragement into Lewis's ear before his eyes met those of the Williams girl outside.

Lewis turned around to see what his dad was looking at and he smiled softly at the sight of Katie.

"Go." Angela whispered pushing her slightly towards him.

"Hey." Katie spoke as she approached Lewis before Anthony left the two alone. She wasn't exactly sure what to say in this situation.

"Hi." Lewis replied softly and before she knew what was happening she found herself closing the gap and embracing him.

"You were great." Katie whispered in his ear as she wrapped her arms tightly around him hoping to provide him with some comfort.

"Lewis, the podium." Valtteri's voice broke the pair apart from their hug, the Finn feeling guilty for interrupting their moment.

"Thanks." Lewis nodded at his teammate before turning back to Katie. "I better go. Meet me at the motorhome after?"

"Course." Katie replied with a small nod.

Lewis gave her waist a small squeeze after finally letting fully go of the Williams' girl. She watched as he walked away and got offered condolences from different drivers as he walked passed.

By the time all the drama has calmed down after the race, including Mercedes objections that were dismissed, Katie watched as Lewis walked out of the motorhome.

"Ready to go?" Katie asked with a small smile and Lewis nodded in reply.

"So, what do you want to do?" Lewis wondered as the pair began the short walk toward the paddock swipe gates.

"You pick." Katie assured him.

"Okay. I have a great idea." Lewis told her smiling what looked like a genuine smile.
Katie was glad he seemed somewhat happy after the tough day he had.

"Lewis, this is amazing." Katie commented as the pair walked down onto the beach that was lit up by a small tent and fairy lights with food and drinks inside. "How did you get this set up so fast?"

"I had it planned since you said you were coming to Abu Dhabi with me." Lewis confessed and Katie could feel butterflies in her stomach.

That meant he was planning to do this regardless of whether he won or not. If he won his 8th championship he wanted to celebrate with her.

"Well it's beautiful." Katie smiled before reaching down to remove her shoes and walked down the quiet beach to the blanket.

The pair enough each other's company and the fine food and drinks for the next couple of hours before deciding to dip their feet in the water.

"You look tense. I have a great idea. How about shouting our anger to the ocean?" Katie suggested hoping it would help him relieve his anger.

"Okay." Lewis nodded in agreement as they were ankle high in water.

"I lost a world championship on the last lap to a crazy Dutchman." Lewis yelled and Katie laughed.

"Lewis." She said while laughing.

"What it was your idea?" Lewis wondered with a smile on his face. "But you're right. I do feel better. Thanks."

"You're welcome." She smiled in reply.

The pair looked from the moon to each other which was the only source of light now that they had stepped away from the fairy lights on the tent.

Lewis leant down and connected their lips and neither pulled away as they shared a soft and sweet kiss under the moon light on the beach in Abu Dhabi.
