Chapter 3

I’ve been alone in Macy’s room for a long time. I thought over what she said about telling my mom the truth. Macy had a point but it’s still a 50-50 chance.

I thought some possibilities on how my mom will react if I told her. First, she’ll be really disappointed and never forgive me, Second, she could throw me out of our house and say to never see her again (which I hoped it wouldn’t go down to this), and lastly, she’ll be fine and okay with it, which is the most least possibility of all.

I know my mom; it’s just that, I don’t want her to go back being alone in her room suffering again. After she knew I joined ballet, she has a lot of expectations in me. In which why I’m working hard to meet those expectations.

She already made plans about my future also, including the one of being accepted at DA and to be a professional ballerina. The same plans as my sister. The only thing I’m worried of is that if my mom is seeing me as Peny not as Sam. It could really break my heart. I can conclude that my mom really loved my sister more than me. I just hoped that I will never regret the hardest decision I made eleven years ago.

Tok..tok..tok..

I raised my head as I heard the knocking sound.

“Sam? It’s me Macy,” knocking at the door. She turned the doorknob slowly and only half of her body peeked inside.

“Are you alright?” asking in a concerned voice. “Need a company or you want to be alone more? Just take the time all you need, no worries.”

I got up quickly and grabbed a tissue to wipe my tears.

“I’m fine now,” I said in a cracking voice. “And I don’t want to be alone anymore,” giving her a little smile.

Macy went inside and closed the door behind her giving me a comforting smile.

“Thanks for everything Macy; you really are the best.” I said grinning grabbing another tissue.

Macy grabbed me to sit down at her bed, “Oh Sam, you know that you can always count on me,” she said grabbing a tissue also to help me clean my face.

“Let’s wipe the crying baby’s face,” Macy said cooing and then started laughing.

I laughed also, “I’m not a baby,” I clarified her.

“It’s about time to hear that beautiful laugh of yours. I got worried to never hear it again,” Macy said happily.

“It’s all thanks to you. I wouldn’t have done it without you,” I assured her.

“Well I’m glad that I could help,” placing her hand above mine to hold it.

I placed my other hand above her and squeezed her hand gently and we both were smiling at each other.

I looked at the clock in her room and it’s already passed lunch time. My stomach growled and Macy raised one of her eyebrows and looked at me with teasing eyes. I didn’t see that coming so I put my hands in my stomach, and looked back at Macy again frowning.

Macy laughed so hard that made her lie down her bed.

“Sorry, I guess my baby is hungry from all that crying,” I said worriedly in a joke.

“Alright, come on. Let’s get something to eat,” my spirit lifted up and we both went outside to eat at our favorite diner.

*********

The bell at the door rang as we entered the diner.

“Macy, Sam, how are you guys? Long time no see,” Tina, our friend, the manager of this diner greeted us with joy.

We greeted back by giving her a hug and saying that we were busy doing something important that made us not come here as she ushered us to our table.

“I see. Well, that’s not a problem anymore because you’re here now,” she said grinning. “So what would you two like to eat?” asking us what to order.

“Our favorite, please,” we said together and then the three of us laughed.

“Coming right, up,” A voice from the kitchen responded to us. We looked at that direction and we were surprised to see Leo, the best cook we ever know, the owner of the diner as well as Tina’s husband, waving his hand to us.

We waved back and told him that we missed him also. He was flattered and offered us free milk shakes. Of course, we were thankful.

The diner was full of regular and non-regular customers. Well, it’s because people can afford it here plus the foods are all deliciously amazing.

For us Macy and I, this is our favorite place to eat and hang out with at any time since we were eight. It’s because my sister was a part time worker here. After school, everyday even weekends, she used to bring us out here to spend time together and eat our favorite, the Heaven’s Masterpiece. Leo was the one who invented that recipe and it’s always at the top of the menu.

I looked around at the diner to see how nothing’s really changed. It was still the same.

There were a lot of memories in here especially together with my sister and the rest of the diner’s crew. We had a lot of fun in here that can never be forgotten. After the incident, this place had become my comforting place and my second home. Tina and Leo were my mom’s friends since high school. They were the one who took care of me when my mom was having a hard time. I owe them big time. That’s why I cannot forget the people here who helped me get through my problems and moved on. They all made me happy again and gave me hope to continue living in the bright side. That’s why I loved this place so much.

Minutes passed and our order was set in our table. Our eyes were so wide and can tell that we were really hungry. Tina told us to enjoy our meals and the rest of the day and left to take the other customer’s order.

“Oh my god, I really missed this,” Macy said her hands holding together at her chest.

“We never get used to eat this for eleven years already,” I said as I was using my knife to cut a piece of it.

“I know right!” she exclaimed and we excitedly ate our delicious meals.
