Chapter 8

I was done unpacking and organizing my things in our dorm. Everything was settled. Thanks also with the helped of every one; our dorm was just like a place that can be lived in comfortably. Silver and I were looking for forward on what will happen to us here throughout our freshmen year. We just can’t stop talking about everything. Silver was more excited than I am. And I myself will be looking forward also with our friendship.

We just can’t wait for our parents to leave so that we can now enjoy touring this place already. It took them long enough to leave because they were giving us their last reminders and advices. I just nodded to my mom’s every words and say that I’ll remember everything. Once were done, they finally took off. Both Silver and I waved at them as they drove far away from us with a wide grin on our faces.

Silver and I looked at each other with our eyes full of excitement. Silver raised her brows giving me a “are you ready to have fun” expression. I then gave her my response by raising my brows also and giving her a “yes, I’m so ready!” face. We both squealed and started clapping our hands to each other. We then hopped and skipped to the fun fair that the school prepared for us to entertain us.

We were so amazed by how a lot of different talents existed at this school. Even though this school has three departments, each student will choose on their own expertise as his/her major. Like for the Music, there’s piano major, violin, guitar, and other instruments including vocals, Silver’s major. The school also will teach them how to compose music. For the Arts, there’s drama, painting, sculpturing and a lot more. With these, they can turn you into a great artist someday and lastly, the Dance Department, where I belong. My major is ballet, of course. But there’s also hip hop, modern and ballroom. Everything was here, in complete awe. I can now really understand why my sister wanted to study here. It’s just amazing!

Silver and I were continuously having conversation with each other. We were getting to know each other little by little. She’s from Brooklyn, still part of NY but she preferred to stay in a dorm to make her life full of adventures. She’s outgoing and really talkative but I don’t get annoyed actually, I was pretty much entertained by her. She’s funny and has a bright personality. And most of all, she’s really pretty.

We were really having fun until we heard some students calling everybody’s attention. Everyone gathered around including us. They were saying something about a show off or something.

“Hello there, ladies and gentlemen, friends from outer space, I’m Luke and these are my assistants, Brian and Eric. We’re juniors here and we pretty much sure how things running here.” He said loudly for everyone to hear.

“So my dear freshmen and new student ‘Dreamers’, I would like to inform you that since you chose this school, you must definitely act not like a coward. You must be confident enough to show what you got…” he looked around and stopped when he stopped at my direction.

“… Because this is what Dream Academy’s all about! Making our dreams into reality and you must be proud of it,” he was kind of sobbing but he was just acting, feeling so proud of what he’s saying.

I kind of laughed at him, also was Silver and few of the others. But heck he was, he’s giving such an inspiring speech. Bravo!

“Now as part of this school’s tradition, since we’re here to welcome you, a little talent show is always present. This is your chance to be recognized,” I was getting tensed up by his words, “and to show us that you deserving to be in this school,” he challenged us.

“Now, who would like to show up first, eh? Come on now, don’t be scared,” rubbing both of his hands looking for someone in the crowd.

His assistants were cheering so loudly as well as the other old students. They put on a very vibrating music and some boys went up the little stage and started dancing. They were doing freestyles and the crowd just loved it. I enjoyed the show as well. Silver kept on screaming beside me that can make my eardrums blown away but I still didn’t mind. After they danced, some girls with violin instruments started to play a beautiful piece and all of us appreciated it. Then little by little, everyone was showing off and the audience went wild.

After those intermissions, the stage went empty again. So Luke and his friends went up to encourage us again to participate. But no one responded. I don’t have the guts to show off because I’m still not out of my comfort zone. I wanted to leave to continue the tour around campus so I wanted to asked Silver if she wanted to escaped also but before I could asked her, just about the moment I turned to her, she raised her hand up in the air and shouted that she’ll perform!

I was impressed by her bravery! People started to cheer again, also me. I can see that she was a little nervous because she was letting the air out of her mouth. She walked up slowly and turned at us. She looked at me and I gave her my encouragement to go for it. She smiled back, closed her eyes, and gained a lot of courage.

She started with a long high-pitched ‘yeah’ and everyone including me was awakened and stopped whatever they were doing as she started to sing “Empire State of Mind” by Alicia Keys giving it a little twist she made. I can’t believed it, when she said that she was a singer, I didn’t expected her to be that good, no, I mean, great! All of us were moved by her passion and we just can’t keep our eyes away from here. The moment she was done, a massive applauds just kept on going. They were congratulating her as she went down to go back at where I was standing.

“What was that all about? You didn’t tell me that you were that amazing!” I exclaimed.

“I don’t know. I just can’t believe I just did that,” she said happily, little shaky too.

“Well believe it, coz’ everyone just witnessed it,” I assured her.

She just laughed not yet accepting the fact that she did that. We were linking arms while we started to go on our way but suddenly some sophomores and juniors blocked our way just to give their praised to Silver. They were giving her compliments and even asked her to join them for food and drinks. Silver hesitated but I told her to go. She asked me if I wanted to come but I told her I wasn’t hungry and I still wanted to finish the tour. We just decided to see each other at the dorm later.

I wanted to explore around the Dance department building so I went there but as soon as I entered, I heard someone playing an instrument. I got curious so instead I went to the Music department building. I opened the main door and saw that no one was actually inside, only the sound of …… a guitar?? I followed the direction of the music slowly and passed a lot of classrooms. As the music got louder and louder, I paused and continued again. I can sense now that the music was coming from the room at the end of the hall. I tiptoed, peeking slowly at the side of the door until…..

EURGH!

I dropped off on the floor. OUCH! And then I realized that the music stopped playing. Before I raised my head to see who it was in that room, I saw two feet standing close to me. It was a guy’s feet actually. I was scared to look up because I wasn’t sure if he was a student or an intruder. But then I decided to see who it was.  I slowly raised my head with fears in my eyes until I gave a scoffed when I saw his face.

“Y-you??....” my eyes just can’t believe it so I rubbed it again.

I looked at him again and he was smirking.

“Fancy meeting you again here, Ms. Bumper,” he gave a smirked.
