Inside the walls

Me and mother were in a black carriage both looking out the window, all you can hear was the horses hooves trotting along before they suddenly stopped.

We arrived at this strange building that was much bigger then the other buildings. It was made out of bricks and had wooden beams going up to the top, it was painted grey but the paint was starting to peel off so it started to uncover some of the bricks underneath.
'Mother is this it?' I whisper so that no one can hear the disappointment in my voice.
'Yes my dear this is the place that your uncle is in.' She said not even looking at me.
'Look I have to go now or I'll be late for my appointment, have you got your backpack and all the things I gave you?'
'Yes mother I have everything.'
'Well I will be back in a week or two, ok?' Her eyes were fixed onto mine.
'Fine.' I let out a big sigh and turn around to look at the building.
'It's only a week or two I'll be fine.' I thought to myself as mother led me up the stairs to a big dark brown door.
If only I knew this was going to be the last time I saw her...
