Levi's Daughter?

What is it?!

Few days later...

It's been bugging me for days now. What's in that treasure box!? The more I think about it the less of an idea I get of what's inside.

'Mei, there's a mission coming so your going to have to train hard for the next few days, we need as much people as we can get.'
Uncle Levi looked mad at the fact that I had to come along. It was my first mission after all.
'What's the mission about?'
I looked at him and he looked like he was daydreaming.
'Hell-.'
He cut me off.
'Yeah I heard you, you wouldn't understand even if I told you, I have a meeting right now about it.'
With that he got up to leave, when he was close to the door he said.
'If you get bored in here go up to my room, get an early night your going to have to train hard for the next few days.
With that he left.

He said I could go to his room right?!
Yes, I could go find out what's in the treasure box!
First I'm going to have to wait for a bit so I can be certain that he's gone to the meeting.

Few minutes later...

Alright! Let's do this. Bothersome as it is, if others see me then they'll question me so I have to stay on the low.
Just as I was going to turn the corner, I heard voices coming from the end of the corridor.
'Damn! Why now? I'm so close to uncle levi's room.'
I turned my head slightly around the corner to see who was there.
'Crap! It's the Military Police idiots. I'm best friend with those lot.'
I thought to myself sarcastically.
There smoking and laughing together, they look drunk.

Maybe they'll move if I wait here.

Well so much for that. I've been standing here for a good 5 minutes and i'm starting to worry that someone's going to come up the stairs and spot me.
Well, I'm just going to have to distract them.
The first thing that came into my head was to get a rock and throw it to the far end so they can go check it out.

There's a large rock right in front of me but it's just over the corner. There's a risk of me getting caught if I reach for it though, but how do I know that they'll hurt me now? Everything's changed now right? I don't want to try and see what happens though.

I slowly bend down to get the rock, I reach out for the rock when I hear.
'Who's there?'
A voice ecos through the corridors.
'Damn it, well there's no point of hiding now, they know I'm here.

I stepped out from around the corner and the two men looked at me for a second.
'What do you want?'
They looked like they were trying to hold back there laugh.
'I'm uh I- you see...'
'Spill it already, we haven't got all day.'
They were coming towards me and without thinking I turned around and started running.
'Hey wait!'
Ignoring them, I slipped into a small room that I had passed while running.
'Why does this feel like it's happened once before?'
I waited for a few minutes after I heard them run past me and stepped out of the room.
'It's about time I go see what's in that box.'

I unlocked the door to uncle levi's room.
'I don't know why but I'm starting to get nervous.'
I look under the bed and pulled out the treasure box out.
I looked underneath the bed again and there were two keys on the floor.
'Yes! I guessed right, they are here.'

I took the keys and unlocked the box.
The lid was way heavier then it looked.

That's when I saw them.

Picture of me when I was younger with mother.
When I lived outside the wall.
There were loads of letters from mother which were still in there envolope but had been open once before.

The more deeper I looked, the more the pictures became older. Until it went back to a time that I wasn't born.
There was a picture of uncle Levi and mother outside the wall.

Mother had told me that uncle Levi has lived in the walls his entire life. Had I heard wrong?

I opened the envolope and I knew straight away that it was mother's writing.

Letter:

To Levi,
I know that we can not be together right now. There will be a day that we come together. For now, please take care of Mei and protect her.
This is the only way to protect her and you know that Levi. This will be the last letter I write to you, I love you.

Mei, by the time you read this I'm probably gone already. I want you to know one thing, that I love you. I was thinking about you the whole time. Please stay safe and eat properly, make sure you stay out of trouble and be nice to others. I have already become side tracked.
I'm sorry that I couldn't spend more time with you. My wish is for you to have a good life even without me.
I love you Mei.

End

Mother knew she was going to die.
Tears started rolling down my face as my thoughts started to make my head throb. Only one thing repeated in my head.
'I couldn't save mother.'
I can't imagine how it would feel to know that your going to die, how would you prepare for such a thing?

The more I thought about these things the more tears formed.
When I looked up I noticed someone looking down at me.
Uncle Levi.
He had a pained yet staight face on.
'You still looked in there huh, I guess I should have known you were going to sometime soon.'
