On the flight back, Shard noticed that Lucas was quiet, except for the occasional twitching and growling under is breath that only Shard could apparently notice. Shard didn't bother to ask because that would be seriously weird, but he could help but feel a little worried for the poor hybrid.

"He's been like that since we saw Peacemaker. That's really peculiar."

Shard knew that something had to be going on, but there was no reason to worry about it now. Where would that get him anyway? No point in worrying over his friend when Shard had his own problems.

He still remembered the ferocity of Sandstorm as she beat him. She was the exact opposite of her brother, Lucas, and Shard new that wouldn't be the last time she would get him. Now, he had to watch always for anything that could happen.

As they landed back at the entrance of the caves, Winter spotted his father yelling at Moon and Qibli, them yelling back. He couldn't pick out exact words, but knew that these days his father didn't get to yelling this badly. Well, unless they were beating up Shard like Sandstorm. What if the situation was about Sandstorm? Had that stirred up this much trouble?

Lucas walked around the corner, avoiding the counselors and went to his cave. Shard decided to get some rest instead of messing with his friend and his personal problems. Plus, some sleep could do him some good.

As he entered the cave, he spotted Weakart on the bed, turned away from him. This was intriguing to Shard because he never slept away from Shard. According to Weakart, it was a "habit". Whatever that means.

"Weakart?" he called.

He turned over and scared Shard more than anything that had happened yet. Sleeping bags hung under his eyes and he looked as if ready to kill someone with one slice of his claws.

"What do you want?" he snapped back at Shard.

"Nothing, I guess" Shard said, immediately crawling into his bed.

Weakart snorted and turned back over. After all that had recently happened, Shard new he was ready to get some sleep. Maybe a few winks would clear all of this mess up.

Cloudy skies, burnt soil, and nothing but blood red staining the scene. That's what Shard saw all around him. He didn't exactly know what was happening, but was also to scarred to find out anyway.

Shard backed up and was stopped by a shape behind him. He spun around to see the biggest dragon ever standing there, blood covering his claws. He was a Nightwing-Icewing hybrid and was the most menacing picture of Shards existence!

"So I can reach you too?" the stranger slithered. "Intriguing. How is this Icewing? What powers would let me reach an Icewing?"

"I...uh?" Shard stuttered.

"Scared?" the newcomer laughed. "We'll you don't get that from your retched father!"

"Who are you?" Shard asked.

"A dragon who is making a comeback to this puny world of dragons." he growled. "I will be king of all and no one, including Moonwatcher can stop me this time! I will be the absolute one and fore all!"

"You know Moonwatcher?!" Shard gasped.

"Yes." the dragon laughed. "We we're friends. That was until she decided to betray me just like my first love. The ones closest to you can do the most damage is what I've learned from experience."

"We'll what did you do?" Shard asked. "What would make her turn on you?"

"Friends." he sighed. "I hadn't even done anything and they made her choose them over me!"

"We'll I may be glad." Shard said weakly. "Without your defeat, my dad would be dead!"

"True." the dragon remarked. "But I did offer a treaty with him. He unfortunately turned it down."

"And you still went after him?" Shard asked. "That sounds evil to me!"

The dragon stopped his comments for a while and seemed to be taken back by what Shard had said. Shard had never felt more accomplished in his entire life! He had beaten this beast at his own game!

"Don't believe everything you hear..." the dragon said, ending the feud.

Shard bolted awake with fear flowing through him. He looked over and noticed nothing seemed out of of the ordinary. No cloudy skies or evil dragons. But... Weakart was gone!

Shard felt himself charging down the halls as he passed dragon after dragon. He needed to get to his father and tell his of what had happened. Maybe he would know what was happening and would know how to fix it!

When he found his father he was in the history class, throwing papers left and right and growling at every little thing. Shard called to his dad and saw the fiery red eyes as his dad turned around. Realizing it was him, he settled down.

"Hey, Shard!" he laughed. "Finally, a reasonable dragon!"

"You ok?" Shard asked.

"Meh." Winter answered. "Just Moon and Qibli. They seem to think their daughter is still a perfect angel even after beating you for no reason! When I confronted them about it, they yelled at me like I was the one in the wrong!"

"Lucas did say his parents had a soft spot for her." Shard sighed.

"We'll I think it should be Lucas who's the favorite!" Winter growled. "That kid has a bright future at least! Speaking of which, where is your friend?"

"Don't know, but I have something more important!" Shard explained. "I... had a dream."

"Cool." his dad said. "Was it scary?"

"Yes." Shard replied. "And for a good reason. Have you ever seen a big Nightwing-Icewing hybrid before. He seemed to know you and Moon."

Winter stopped in his work and Shard new it wasn't good. Winter did know this dragon and didn't seemed to be in the liking of him.

"I do." he started. "And he isn't good. Listen, you can't tell anyone about this, got it?"

Shard nodded and hugged his dad. Whatever was about to happen, and and his dad would fix and and everything would be fine. After all, Winter hadn't had problems in a while and wasn't going to bring 'em up now.

"This will all be fine and things will go back to normal soon!"
