a few days before sonics disappearance anniversary..

"tails hun, calm down please ." rouge said trying to remain as calm as possible looking at said fox.

"how can i!? you guys don't even care about what I have to say and are not talking it seriously at all!" he slammed his small fists on the table.

he might have been a few older but the sadness of loosing his older brother was still definitely there. everyone present in the meeting, meaning sonic's old crew, fell silent at the outburst. after awhile amy perked up.

"look tails.. all of us know how it must hurt to have lost sonic.. but that was years ago. As his lover i know okay, it's just.. maybe moving on is for the best you know? It's hard see you like this. scratch that, to see everyone like this." she sighed and looked down. "if the world was able to move on maybe we should too."

it took everything in tails not to make a smart remark. "none of you will ever know how it's feels, you may have given up on sonic but I won't! and amy, you're delusional, sonic never loved anymore than sisterly love, let's be real. you guys can do whatever but sonic never gave up on us so i won't give up on him." his voice came off as firm as he push himself back from the table, got up, and walked out the room.

knuckles let out a tired sigh, tails had a point. amy was stunned to say the least, she was at lost of words. rouge only looked out the window before getting up as well.

"me and shadow here will go after kit we'll see you all whenever." the flirt said before grabbing her companion by the wrist and dragging him out.

the whole group usually consisted of amy, tails, knuckles, and rouge.  but around a year ago rouge brought in a rather grumpy and hostile companion shadow. he wasn't really in the group per say.

rouge just dragged him everywhere and eventually the monthly meetings were also on that list.  sometimes they'd bring omega but that was usually rare.

shadow had been discovered by G.U.N only a meer few months after sonics disappearance and started working for them not too long after. he never got the chance to meet the blue devil.

though from what it seems he was very well known, not just by his hometown but a lot of places. and if he was anything like his friends shadow already assumed they wouldn't be on the best terms.

as rouge dragged shadow out the building the hedgehog yanked his arm away. "let go of me bat."  he said once he realized she had a deadly grip on his arm. "not until we find tails." she responded before taking a sharp turn at the corner causing shadow to stumble.

he groaned. "i do not see where i come into play at all. i barely know of this boy and his brother, they are of no concern to me." he said blandly.

rouge stopped in her tracks and turned towards shadow. "handsome look, i know you don't know big blue and that you don't really care about his friends or whatever but i do. sonic was the only thing this boy had left to call family, the least I can do is help him when nobody else will, you can leave after this but just chill this once."

he gave her the most uninterested face of the century before looking away. "hmph." was all he responded with.

rouge sighed but this was better than nothing. after the two continued in complete silence, shadow didn't protest to being dragged around.

by the time the found him he was in his workshop at his work desk. his head was buried in his arms as his head lay on the desk. "go away." he mumbled.

"aww my poor baby." rouge cooed as she walked over to him and pulled him in a hug. he didn't protest like she assumed he would, rather he melted like putty in her hands and cried.

"i didn't mean to rude or anything I just miss him.." he managed to get out hugging her tighter. rouge pet his head and whispered that it'd all be okay.

meanwhile shadow stood with his back pressed to the wall. he could just chaos control home but decided against it. he didn't get why everyone was being all extra but he decided to to question it.

he was in no position to judge anyways since he felt the same way about maria, the incident was obviously still fresh on his mind.

though he was better at keeping up his composure, also known as bottling up his emotions and acting all tough.

eventually tails cried himself to sleep and rouge called shadow over. "hun i think we're gonna have to spend the night.
