after months and months of explaining, with breaks in between tails had finally gotten all the answers he had been wanting for years.

at least most of it anyways.

sonic had been back for nearly six months now and things were going okay. tails had done a few test and eventually made the perfect bands for sonic to use so he could run again.

he was already back to running after the first week of having them and the main thing he did was avoid  shadow.

though it may seem out of character of him he wanted answers and sonic wouldn't give them to him. the speedster was just enjoying this game if mouse and cat until something changed.

sonic was currently going for his usual four am morning run through the forest per usual. he paid no mind to his surroundings since he was pretty familiar with the area and kept running along the trail.

after awhile he got bored and decided to walk around before settling on a log.

"found you." came a voice from the trees.

sonic obviously didn't seem to hear it so he was confused when someone pounced on him and pinned him to the ground.

he struggled to get the person off, they were pretty strong, eventually though he was able to push them off.

they tried to run away but sonic grabbed their leg at the last second and pulled them down. "shit." they toppled on the floor and sonic pinned them in the dirt. the two sort of got into a fight after that. they were at of for awhile.

after around an hour or two later the both of them seemed to run out of energy. it was obvious that their stamina was pretty low. sonic held his side, a soft wheeze emitting his body every time he breathed. the other was beat up just the same.

he still kept his defense up though.

"who the hell are you?" he muttered with a raspy voice. he got no answer.

just then the sun was now coming up and sonic could finally see his anonymous attacker. at least a little bit. "shadow?!" sonic said surprised. "what the fuck man!" he coughed slightly.

shadow hmphed and crosses him arms in disgust. "don't act all offended shadz you came on to me first." sonic said rolling his eyes.

"and?" shadow said bluntly.

"what do you mean "and", what the hell was all of that for!" sonic threw his hands in the air but quickly let them down as the pain started to worsen.

shadow eyed him then the ground. "just give me the answers."

sonic made a face of realization before a stupid grin replaced it on his face. "what answers?" he said in a teasing manner while leaning on a near by tree for support.

there was a sudden awkward silence that flowed through the secluded forest. and after awhile all that could be heard was shadow's metal shoes coming in contact to the floor as he walked over angrily towards sonic.

"don't test me hedgehog! just tell me how you know so much about me, it's unsettling."

sonic was close to letting out a laugh until he heard the last part of the others words. "whaddya' mean unsettling?" he questioned slowly. shadow growled before crossing his arms and putting on his signature emotionless glare. "let me ask you something you pathetic faker. do you think that it is normal to have a complete stranger who've you never met in your life know everything about you? it is not. it is weird... and i do not know anything of who you are which does not seem fair in the slightest." he huffed and glared harder at sonic.

sonic put a hand to his chin thoughtfully. after awhile of thinking his let out a sigh. "okay maybe you're sorta right.. okay you are." he rolled his eyes before continuing and kicking up some dirt.

"i guess it really is unfair to you? so how about this, you do stuff for me and ill tell you what you wanna hear." the other hedgehog stood there unamused in the slightest.

"who do you think you are..?"

sonic smirked and sped over to shadow lifting up his chin. "sonic the hedgehog duh." he snorted before quickly pulling something out his quills and turning around. he dodged a few attacks from shadow in the process before turning around and having a little spar with him.

the two fought pretty roughly, sonic actually enjoyed it since he and shadow were equally matched and his stamina was very impressive. by now the two had exchanged many hits and it seemed shadow let down his guard for a slit second.

sonic took the opportunity to slip the paper he was using earlier into shadow's quills. he also attempted to spin dash him but shadow dodged it.

shadow excepted sonic to attack immediately after but instead he was met with a loud boom and when the spoke cleared the azure hedgehog was long gone.

shadow only stated before eventually growing enraged. "ill beat you next time you fake, just you watch.

and in that moment shadow had found his new nemesis.
