To pay homage to the hidden facts in the newspaper in FNAF 3, I've decided to list a bunch of facts about all of my FNAF stories to date! Hope you enjoy!
WARNING: SOME OF THESE FACTS CONTAIN SPOILERS!
Five Nights at Freddy's
My original name for the protagonist in the original FNAF story actually wasn't Mike Schmidt. I forget what his name was, but I quickly changed it to Mike Schmidt when I discovered the guard actually had a name!
The name Macey, which was thought up randomly, was actually given before the protagonist's name switch, so the alliteration of Mike and Macey was completely unintentional.
I planned to reveal the manager of this location to be the killer of the 5 children, but since FNAF 2 was coming out, I decided to hold off, just in case something more was revealed about the killer (good thing I did, right?).
It's implied in the story that Foxy was behind the Bite of '87. Again, this was before FNAF 2, and especially before we discovered the game was unofficially revealed to be a prequel! Fortunately, I didn't go into too much info about this fact.
My main source for writing the nights was playing the game and figuring out what usually happens on each night, such as Golden Freddy's appearance in the office and when Freddy leaves the stage.
I didn't make Phone Guy's phone calls prerecorded messages because I wanted to try and make the story unique. Looking back, I think that may or may not have a been a good idea; too many logical errors, such as how he was still working when Mike was.
When Mike checked the back room to find Phone Guy, I was originally going to have him find Golden Freddy there, but I discovered it wouldn't make complete sense; where would the 5th child be? So, I put Phone Guy in a regular Freddy Fazbear suit.
The whole "living in the past restaurant" thing was loosely inspired by the Lotus Casino from Percy Jackson. But I have actually heard of paranormal cases where spirits in buildings can live in the same time over and over again.
My original plan was for Mike to die, but every time the time came, I decided against it. That being said, there were several times he was going to die. From being stuffed right into the Freddy suit at the end of the part "Night 5" to being stuffed again in "The Final Showdown" to Golden Freddy killing him right at the end of the story. In the end, I just couldn't do it! Which is a good thing; my FNAF series would be very different if Mike died!
The Golden Freddy
My original plan for the story was to have Mike visit all three Freddy Fazbear's Pizzas, but I didn't want the story to drag on, especially since FNAF 2 was on its way.
I chose Wisconsin as the state for Mike to visit because I personally love Wisconsin. Mike pretty much described the state in the part "Fazbear Bound" as I would describe the state.
The idea of human flesh in the pizza was based on a theory I read about the reason of why the camera in the kitchen is off. Someone suggested that they possibly use human flesh in their pizzas. After some thought from me, the rest became history.
The reason the 'manager' of the Wisconsin Freddy Fazbear's Pizza was a young woman was because my original plan was for her to end up with Mike. However, I realized it would be impossible for the manager to not know about what they're doing to the pizzas, so I made her the villain, instead.
I won't deny that the hardest thing I've done as an author is kill Jamie. I was debating it as I wrote...until I finally decided it would make the moment more dramatic if she died.
