Chapter Two: Assessing the Damage

Obviously, I'm not a total dick. I did get her warm clothes and brought her to my home. And then kept her in my personal basement of course. "Good morning sunshine." She sits up from the air mattress when I turn the light on. "How'd you sleep?" I ask as I close the door behind me.

"Go to hell?" I stop not too far from her. "And to think I had brought you coffee." I raise the mug of freshly brewed coffee. "Like that beats kidnaping me." She has an attitude in her tone.          Ray'Becca stands up but keeps her distance from me.

"First of all, you dented my god damn car. And second look how nice this god damn basement is. Who do you know that has heated floors in their basement?" I plead my case, yet she still huffs in disgusts. "I swear, nothing is every good enough for women these days." I shake my head as I take a sip of the coffee I made.

"Anyways," I grab a chair to sit down in. "When are you going to spill some details about your father? The sooner you do, the sooner you get out. Don't test me either. I'll keep your ass down here forever, if I have to."

All I need is for her to give me a head start on Vincents' plans, that way I can kill him first. "Oh, come on. Do you want me to make this miserable for you, sweetie?" I set the cup on the floor.

"Don't call me that." She spits.

"Fine. You'll talk eventually. I've got all week anyways." I leave the coffee on my way out. "Sweet dreams princess." I taunt her as I close the door behind me. I make sure to lock it before going upstairs to my room. There, I shower and change into sweats and a hoodie. And on my way out I put on sneakers.

Charlie and three of my guards are waiting for me in my driveway. "Good morning gentlemen." I greet them as I get into the SUV. Usually on the weekends, I like to pretend that my life is normal. I wear something more casual, have less security and do my best to have fun.

"Hey you." I smile as I slide into the seat. Across from me is a young man. His mouth is taped along with his ankles and wrists. "Correct me if I'm wrong," I say as I reach over to rip the tape off his lips. "You were with Ray'Becca last night. Hiding in the bushes like a wimp."

His green eyes are blurry, just by his body language I can tell that he's terrified. I always hate to see kids get into this type of work. I just wish they would stay in school and use common sense. "What, cat got your tongue?" I slap his check slightly. "Speak." I instruct him.

I usually try my best to be patient, but some people are just so God damn annoying. "Yes, I was with her. But I swear I didn't tell anyone that you were there." He blurts out as he scoots as far away from me as possible. "Okay, so what were you two even doing?" I grab a water from the cooler beside me and take a big enough swig from it to satisfy me for a while.

"We were following you." I raise my brows in surprise at the info. "Okay, go on." I encourage him as I sat my water bottle on the floor. "Our car stalled when Vincent told us to report back to him. That's when we got mugged, so she ran after the guy, and then you guys ran her over."

"I didn't run jack shit over. That was my blind driver." I assure him. Of course, I know that he'll expect them back soon. So, I should come up with a plan, fast.

I reach into his pocket to grab his phone. "Code?" I ask and he immediately tells it to me. I go through his phone first before pulling up Vincent's number. "I want to tell him exactly what happened. Don't include me kidnapping you guys though. He doesn't need to know that." I tell him before dialing the number and putting the phone to his ear.

"Oh, and just in case." I take my Glock off my gun belt to aim it at his head. I figure it would be good incentive.

"What you got for me?" Vincent says once he answers. I give him a glare. I'm almost positive that he won't say anything that would fuck me over. "Nothing again this week, I'm pretty sure he's been keeping a low profile after what happened. I'll keep looking this weekend and update you tomorrow." He talks calmer than I thought he would in this situation.

"Alright, I'll keep in touch." I smile when Vincent hangs up.

"That went better than I thought it would." I put his phone in my pocket then I put my gun away. "I'm going to have a word with your girlfriend while you take a ride with my buddy Charlie." I announce before getting out. "See you soon, Cody." I shut the door and signal for Charlie to go. Two of my guards follow behind him in their own cars.

"Just do surveillance for me today and let Alice in when she gets here." I instruct him as I head back inside my house. I knew that he had people watching me, I just didn't think he would put his daughter and some random kid on it.

I pour myself a glass of Jack Daniels, then make my way to the basement. I made sure to drop Cody's phone in sink water before heading down.

She's pacing the room when I come in. "Stressed? Was it the coffee?" I say as I motion to the empty cup. She turns to look at me then proceeds to flip me off. "Screw you." I sigh at how grumpy she's been.

"Look, I just want you to let me in on your dad's plan and I'll be out of your hair." This isn't my only plan. If I can't get to him through her, then he'll just have to come to me. "I swear." She walks up to me to shove me against the concrete wall before repeatedly punching me in my gut. I curse at how hard her punches are before I quickly retaliate. I grab her arms to swing her body weight into the wall before steeping back.

She stays down for the time being. "Damn Becky. You can really throw a punch." I groan as I straighten my poster. Honestly, the fact that she did that really pisses me off, since I've only been nothing but nice to her. "Don't try that shit again though. Because I can promise you, that I'm not afraid to hit a woman." I admit.

She sits up, holding her side. "What do you want to know?" She mumbles as she locks eyes with me. "I want to know how exactly your dad plans to kill me." I say, calmly.

"Sniper. The second he finds out where you live." I nod at the information. What a douche. Of course, he takes the easy way. "Thanks." I head towards the door. "Are you going to kill him?" I only stop to look back at her. "Well, Duh." I roll my eyes at the question as I leave the basement.

Alice is waiting for me in my living room. She has made herself at home, slouched on my couch with popcorn and her favorite show going. "Here." She throws a prepaid phone at me when she sees me. "Thanks. You know, at six tonight I'm leaving." I remind her yet she only shrugs. "Good for you."
