My dad was hardly around after my mom died. So somehow, I always found myself searching for the love my father never gave me. I often did this through boys. Only once did it all backfire on me.

His name was Cody. He was a senior my sophomore year. I only wanted him because my friend was dating him. Before that I didn't even think he was cute.

"Hey guys." Adrian greeted us as she sat down with Cody. Lunch was really the only time our whole friend group was together. "Hey girl." Katlyn waves with a big smile on her face.

Adrian and I used to be best friends. We were the school's power duo. But being a year older than me, she found older friends that made her happier than I did, I guess. Now it feels like she's only friends with me because of Katlyn.

I had never envied Adrian until now. I watch as she flips her blonde hair over her shoulder and squints her blue eyes at Cody. It still amazes me how she can lie to everyone. Or how she thinks I'm above exposing her dirty secretes.

If she didn't want to be my friend that was fine, but I hope she knows that means I'm not obligated to keep her secretes anymore.

"Like I was telling Cody the other day, that you should totally come with us. I wouldn't mind having you there." Adrian says then leans over to eat some of her salad.

"Why? You don't even like Katlyn. You used to tell me that all the time. For a while you thought she was a skank, I have the messages to prove it." I reply. My response shocks everyone except Adrian. She just gives me a glare. Her face turns red and like a brat she storms off.

"Oh, okay." Katlyn sighs as she stands up with her tray and finds another table. Which leaves me with Cody. Track star, computer geek Cody. I smile at him. "Sorry you had to hear that." I'm not sorry at all.

"It's okay, I hear her talk shit about Katlyn too." I laugh at the new information. "You should have said something too." I leave him at the table to throw away my trash. On my way to class, I stop to use the bathroom.

There, Adrian expressed her feelings about what I said.

It was the most embarrassing thing that had ever happened to me. She and four other girls jumped me. They threw me into the mirrors, the stalls, and even on the filthy floors. I had never felt so helpless until then.

"Eat shit, skank." Adrian said then she proceeded to spit on me on her way out with them. My body wasn't the only thing that got bruised.

I left school early to plot my revenge. I wasn't going to ambush her in the girl's bathroom like she did to me. I wanted to ruin her image. The thing she cared about most. Starting with her precious Cody.

That night, Cody's friends threw a party. The whole school planned to make an appearance. I thought I should too.

I showed up with a completely different look. I almost didn't even recognize myself. I couldn't care less about that though. I walked straight to the kitchen to get a few shots in before I make any moves.

I grab a red cup followed by a bottle of Bacardi. As I'm opening it, I feel a tap on my shoulder. When I turn around, I'm pleased to see that it's Katlyn. "Excuse me I just wanted to compliment you girl. You look good!" She squeals while examining my outfit.

"Kat, it's me. Ray' Becca." I announce to her, and her jaw drops as the realization sets in. "Holy shit, how did you change your hair that fast?" I laugh at how confused she is.

"It's a wig, babe." I tap her head softly. "That's so dope." I hum in response as my eyes start to veer around the room for Cody. "Sorry about earlier. But it was true, and I should have told you sooner." I end up drinking from the bottle then dropping it in my purse.
