Everyone was dead when I got back. Roman only left Pedro, me, and another guard alive.
He was pacing the living room when I walked in. "He's really on my bad side now. Oh, that mother fucker." He groaned. I peak into the living room and see that Granite is here too. Her back is turned though.
I step away quietly to sneak back into his office. This time I brought tools. I place my bag on the desk as I pull out the phone to call Roman. "Hello?" His voice is groggy.
"Were you sleeping?" I grab my crowbar to try, and pry open the desk with it first. "Yeah, what's up?" I can hear him shuffling in bed. "Pedro's pretty pissed. In fact, he is talking to Granite right now. Maybe she's not really investigating you." He laughs on the end of the phone.
"Thanks for the head's up." He says then hangs up. I frown at that because I wanted to talk to him longer.
I roll out of bed to open the curtains. The sudden sunlight wakes me up. "Shit." I mumble as I walk toward the bathroom. I want to carry out the remainder of my plan today. And of course, I want to do it in style.
I shower then get dressed in more formal attire today. I leave my room with high spirits. Usually, I'm kind of grumpy at the ass crack of dawn. "Hey old man, You ready for me?" I greet Charlie when I walk through the living room. He's sitting on my couch, tapping at his phone with his index finger.
"Yep." He says without looking at me. I chuckle at the fact that he's playing slots on his small phone. "Okay man, give me a minute." I grab a bottle from my cabinet followed by the blender. I start conversing with my security as I grab things to make a smoothie with.
"I'll be fine today. Can you guys just go keep an eye on my brother please?" I want to be alone when I do this. Just because I work better that way, and I want to make sure that Francis is safe.
"Are you sure? I can at least leave Mike or Tobaus with you." I keep Malik in charge because he does his job well. And I trust him the most. "I'm positive. Just keep him safe, alright?" He is hesitant. I can see it in his eyes.
"Yes, sir." He eventually says before leaving with the rest of them.
After learning that Granite was on his side, I figured I'd get rid of him. Since apparently, he thinks he's running shit now. I'll take care of Granite later. "Let's go, grandpa." I announce to Charlie on my way towards the door.
I don't like having enemies. That shit is just too much work. And it takes me away from selling powder. Which is where almost all of my assets come from.
"You look nice today." I didn't expect Becky to be in the car when I got in. Across from me, she sits with a straight face.
"Charlie, why'd you let this rat in?" She rolls her eyes at my question. "Who?" He groans from the front seat and turns around. "Oh, she wanted to talk to you." He says once he sees her then he turns back around.
I chuckle at his response before giving her my attention. "What can I help you with?" I take a sip from my drink before setting it in the cup holder.
I went through Pedro's office yesterday and found something." She uncrosses her legs to dig through the pocket of her black hoodie. Becky pulls out a small box and hands it over to me. When I reach for it our fingers touch, making her yank her hand back in a swift motion.
That was weird but I just pretend that I didn't notice. Inside, there are maybe ten or twelve flash drives neatly tucked in it. "You looked at them yet?" I glance at her as I ask. Slowly she nods back to me.
"Just one, but I couldn't finish it." She moves over to sit next to me. Becky reaches into the box to take one out and show it to me. The initials written on it were R.K. Immediately, I knew what was on it. "That was you in that video, with that girl," I slam the box closed, that scares her.
"You're just as bad as my dad." I scoff at the fact that she's comparing me to him after seeing one clip of what I did ten years ago. "I'm nothing like him." I look her in her eyes, calmly.
She's breathing heavily and moving as close to the door as she can get. "I knew I couldn't trust you." She exclaims, and scurries to jump out. "Stop." I grab the door and force it closed, trapping her under me.
"Can I explain, at least? Damn." At this point I'm hovering over her. I keep one hand on the door handle while I use the other to hold myself up. "Get off of me!" She tries to push me away, but I don't budge.
"Are you done trying to run away?" I look down at her with impatience. If she truly believed that I was worse than Vincent, then she wouldn't have come to see me. Her breathing starts to slow down, and she stops fighting me. Instead, of trying to shove me, she rests her hands against my chest.
"For now, I am." The way she's looking up at me makes my heart beat a little faster. I know my blood wants to rush somewhere else, so I moves to sit beside her before that happens.
"Her name is Julia." I say once I'm comfortable in my seat. "She was my first love, before Alicia." She has completly calmed down now, so I tell my story.
A Few Years Prior
"Baby!" I call for Julia once I'm inside the house. I set my keys down on the kitchen counter before grabbing a glass from the cabinet. "Julia!" I chime. While opening the fridge I hear the faint sounds of her moans come from our bedroom.
I immediately pull my nine-millimeter from the holster on my belt on my way to our room. Julia screams and jumps out of the bed when I burst through the doors. "Roman, calm down, please baby." She holds her hands up to me as she begs me to put my gun away. She was riding his fucking face.
"I am calm." Vincent is smiling at me even as I'm holding him at gun point. "You should listen to your wife, Kudinoff." He laughs.
"Before I knew it, they had cops swarming the place. She completely fucked me over. Stole my house, my cars, all of my money and gave it all to him. She did all of that under my fucking nose. Can you imagine how I felt when I went to jail for robbing my own god damn house? That's what they claimed I did." Just thinking about it gets me so damn angry.
"Granite put me away for four years, for something I didn't even do." My eyes drop down to her all-white Nikes. Her legs look soft under her white tennis skirt. I didn't even realize she was wearing one, her hoodie's so god damn big.
"I didn't kill her in that video. If that's what you wanted to know. I wanted to though, believe me, I did." She huffs. Becky turns away to look out the window. "I'm sorry that happened to you." She mumbles.
We finally arrive at the mansion Pedro rented out tonight. "Sorry does nothing for me." I get out and start walking toward the steps. "Wait!" She runs up to walk beside me. "What are you doing here?" She asks me.
I wait until we are inside to tell her that. "I'm going to end The Delgato." I wink at her before turning away to walk up the stairs. Of course, she follows me. "How are you even going to do that?" We get to the top of the stairs, so I look back at her.
"By pissing on a camel, now do you have any dumber questions?" She grabs my wrist and moves to stand in front of me. "Roman." She says my name in a scolding manner. I sigh but tell her anyway.
"You want to know that bad? I'll tell you."
