CHAPTER FIVE
TENYA.

REI DIDN'T know what actually had happened, or what was going on in Hosu City. She was sitting in Edgeshot's agency, wiping her brow of sweat after the long hero mission she had to help Edgeshot with. She watched him pick up the phone by his desk, muttering a hello into the speaker.

Edgeshot always was level headed, and Rei didn't see his expression alter much over the phone. Say, for his eyes widening a bit as he heard whoever was on the other side. He nodded and thanked the person on the other line for their time, and set the phone down gently. "Get your gear ready, Ketsuki," He said seriously, his expression void of anything but concentration.

Rei raised an eyebrow as she applied her gauntlets onto her arms. "What for?" She asked quietly and approached Edgeshot. He was quite taller than her, and he looked down at her smaller frame as he spoke.

"Nomu are attacking Hosu City. We'll get there quickly by bullet train," He simply stated, and quickly ran from the door. Rei's eyes widened a bit, and she felt her blood run a bit cold. It felt like it was freezing her insides, but she got it warm again as she followed Edgeshot out of his agency.

Iida is in Hosu City, Rei thought to herself as she stepped out. Edgeshot wasted no time in finding a nearby train and hopping on. Rei stared out the window in a bit of conflict. Was Iida okay? She couldn't tell, nor could she predict the situation like she usually could. She could feel the breeze on her body, as her hero costume didn't provide much warmth on her arms or legs. She shivered, and felt her hands shaking.

What was this emotion she was feeling? Nervousness? She couldn't tell.

---

REI AND Edgeshot arrived on the scene quickly. Most of the Nomu were attacking near an alleyway, and Rei could see Midoriya assisting Gran Torino. She wondered where Iida was. Manual's agency was in Hosu.

Perhaps he was at a different part of town. But, Rei ran to find a good spot for an advantage against the Nomu. Maybe a higher spot, or somewhere they couldn't see. Her eyes darted to the alleyway in a bit of curiosity. Amidst the fire in the alleyway, Rei could make out three figures. Todoroki, who was fighting someone. And Iida, who was laying on the ground. He looked paralyzed. Rei's eyes widened, and Iida's did too once he saw her.

"Ketsueki...!" Iida cried, his voice sounded hoarse and tired. He seemingly tried to stand. Rei ran over and crouched down to meet Iida's level, trying to remain calm, like Edgeshot told her to do. Not that she didn't have trouble with that before... why was she seemingly worried? She hadn't felt this before in such situations...

"Iida, what's wrong?" Rei asked calmly, her ruby eyes flickering up to see Todoroki. And now that she had a good look at who he was fighting, she saw the Hero Killer, who'd been making the news recently. The one who Iida said had hurt his brother.

"The Hero Killer," Iida groaned in a bit of pain. "He was going to hurt Native... so I stopped him. He--" he swallowed, "he stopped me after Midoriya came for backup. His quirk... it made me paralyzed." Rei could see a long cut across Iida's upper arm. She quickly pressed a hand onto it, which brought a groan of pain from Iida.

"If you are able to move later, please apply pressure to your cut," Rei stated. She inhaled sharply as she saw Stain looking over to Iida, and now his eyes laid on her. Rei felt her body go a bit cold, and her sweat felt like ice pricking her skin. "Iida... please stay calm..." Rei mumbled as she stood from Iida and stepped more toward the enterence of the alley.

"E-Edgeshot!" Rei exclaimed loudly. Her voice remained steady as she tried to find him. She couldn't see him through the flames or the smoke. She could smell the icky smell of the thick smoke, and it filled her lungs as she took in air. She felt a bit light headed from it. She could see Stain approaching her, saying something about pro heroes, she couldn't make it out from the sounds of the pros shouting, and civilians screaming.

Rei slowly approached him, as well, but keeping her guard up, bringing her arms over her chest to protect her vital organs. "Edgeshot!" Rei exclaimed louder than before.

"Those pros can't save you," Stain stated coldly. He approached Rei and brought a sharp katana toward her cheek, not slitting it, but keeping the cold blade there. "You're quite calm for someone who is in a near death situation." Rei swallowed, and would've said something if she hadn't been knocked to the ground.

Stain kept one of his heavy boots on Rei's back to keep her still as he brought his blade to her lower arm. He brought it down into her swiftly. Rei could feel something hit the bone, and at first it only felt like immense pressure on her arm. Rei's breath hitched as she felt pain spread through her arm brutally, and Stain removed the blade. He proceeded to lick the blade of Rei's blood, and Rei felt her body stiffen.

"Quite a high pain tolerance," Stain said to himself with a scoff, before stomping down onto Rei's arm hard. Rei heard it snap. And with that, Stain finished his assault on her and moved back as Todoroki sent a large flame towards him.

Rei tried stopping the bleeding using her quirk. She stopped the circulation in her arm for a moment, but her mind was too fogged over with the feeling of small pain in her arm. She hadn't felt this pain before. As smoke filled her insides and fire tinged her vision with orange, Rei felt her breath becoming shallow.

"Ketsueki?" Rei heard Iida exclaim beside her. She couldn't hear him clearly, his voice was nothing but a haze as she sighed. He was up, Rei could see him moving through her fogged vision. He repeated her name over and over again as he was crouched next to her body. The ground in the alley felt cold against her skin. Rei closed her eyes.

And she didn't remember the rest.
