"DOCTOR! DOOOOCTOOOR!"
The Doctor ran at the speed of lightening when he heard his companion, Rose Tyler calling for him.
"ROSE?" He called.
"DOCTOR COME HERE!"
The Doctor ran faster, worried that his human companion was in trouble. His speed accelerated to cheetah speed when the cries got louder.
He soon found her kneeling down next to a brick building looking behind a dumpster.
'She's hurt!' He thought.
The closer he got the clearer he could see that she was fine.
"Rose what is it?" He sighed, relived that she was okay and not dying.
"Look at this." She gestured to behind the dumpster.
The Doctor followed her finger. A puppy. A brown, scruffy puppy with white paws was lying there looking up at them with pleading chocolate eyes.
"Is it hurt?"
"I don't think so. Just looks hungry and dehydrated."
The Doctor gently took Rose's arm and pulled her away from the brown pupShe stood up so the Doctor could get closer to the dog.
The Doctor slowly out his hand out in front of the dogs face. It sniffed the Doctor's hand and licked it. Rose was watching over the Doctor's shoulder. The Doctor touched the puppy's side. It didn't flinch away, it just stood still. The Doctor slipped his other hand under the dog and gently started to raise it. Rose backed away so the Doctor could stand up.
"Aww look at her." The Doctor said, back to Rose. He turned around so Rose could see. The puppy was propped on the Doctor's left arm. the Doctor had his hand supporting her chest and his arm supporting her body.
"She needs a home." Rose said.
The Doctor's head shot up from the puppy to look Rose in the eye.
"What are you saying?!" He asked.
"Please Doctor! Not a lot of people adopt mutts these days."
"I was going to give her to your mum."
"Mum is now a cat person."
"She had a dog"
"Rose bit her, she told me, so now she's a cat person."
"What about Mickey?"
"Doesn't like animals."
"Jack?"
"Too busy with Torchwood."
The Doctor sighed in defeat.
"We have to stop at the pet store on the way back to the TARDIS."
Rose squealed with excitement and followed the Doctor.
The old Time Lord ran his free hand through his wild brown hair as he wondered and worried about what the consequences would be if he let a puppy onboard the TARDIS. What if the TARDIS rejected her? What if the TARDIS hurt her of if she got lost? The Doctor's mind whirled as he got more and more worried. He was so deep and thought that he turned the wrong way.
The Doctor turned the corner and Rose paused.
"Hey Doctor, pet store is that way." Rose laughed.
The Doctor snapped his fingers and turned around.
"I knew that." He smiled at Rose as he walked past her in the right direction. Rose walked alongside the Doctor and reached out into his arms and picked up the puppy.
She lifted her like the in the Lion King except that the puppy was facing Rose.
"Oh she is adorable!" Rose cooed.
"How much farther is the pet store?"
"About another block." Rose replied. Rose tucked the puppy under her arm, same posture that she had been, in the Doctor's arms and continued walking beside the Doctor
The Doctor pushed the door to the pet shop open and coughed like the walk had killed him. Rose swatted the back of his head then laughed at his exaggeration.
"So food, bowls, a cage, toys, brush, leash and collar, these are all the things we need." The Doctor told Rose, "Allons-y!"
Rose grabbed a cart and put their puppy inside it with the leash, collar, and food they had already picked out. The collar and leash were matching, they had red roses and a pink background.
"What about a name?"
"Dalek?" The Doctor suggested.
Rose playfully glared at him.
"I am not naming her after an alien
"Venus?"
"Sounds like a boys name."
They walked down the next isle and the Doctor picked up a box that occupied a cage inside and out it in the cart.
"What are we going to do when we're on long trips?" Rose asked. The Doctor wrought about it.
"Keep her in the cage I guess."
"But we never know how long we're going to be."
The Doctor wrought for a minute, leaning on the cart with his right hand under his chin.
"We can get one of those little fences and fence her in."
"And potty training?"
"I don't know. I've never had a dog except for K-9 but... He didn't need all this stuff," he gestured towards the items in the cart, "We'll use those potty training matts."
They payed for all the items and walked out of the store.
"Alright now genius. How are we going to get all this stuff back to the TARDIS? We can't steal the cart." Rose said, smirking.
"We'll bring it right back." The Doctor said. He started pushing the cart forward. Rose sighed but reluctantly followed.
They were about ten minutes into the wall when the Doctor spoke up.
"So what about Comet?"
"What?"
"A name."
Rose thought about it for a minute.
"Why all space related?" Rose wondered aloud.
"Because we're traveling through time and space."
Rose didn't argue. It made sense. Why name a dog Beethoven if they weren't musicians?
"I like Comet. But again it seems too boyish."
"Astrid? After that I'm out of ideas."
"Okay, Astrid." Rose smiled.
They didn't even realize that the TARDIS was only a few yards ahead of them. The Doctor opened the door and lifted the cart into the TARDIS and stopped pushing. He stepped to the side so that he was facing Astrid. Rose took her place next to him. She smiled down at the puppy. Rose scratched the dog under the chin
The Doctor looked from Rose to Astrid and said, "welcome aboard, Astrid!"A/N: I don't even know what I'm going to do with my Sherlock fanfic. I'm sorry I'm working on it! Hope you enjoy this though. More chapters coming soon!
