Paws in the TARDIS

A/N: I forgot to say that, yes, I did use Astrid. But this obviously takes place before Voyage of the Damned. Enjoy.
It didn't take long for the Doctor and Rose to set up Astrid's room. To the Doctor's relief, his ship didn't have a problem with the dog. Astrid sniffed around the console and the TARDIS VWROPed happily.
The Doctor and Rose were enjoying throwing a toy fox around the room for Astrid. She would wag her tail, they would throw it and then she would fetch it. The game quickly transitioned from fetch to tug of war. Astrid would never let go of the toy. The Doctor, being fast himself, could not outrun this puppy. He would race around the console after Astrid, trying to grab the toy. Every so often he kind have to wipe the beads of sweat away from his face.
Rose was sitting on the jump seat laughing at them.
"You want to do this for a couple minutes? See who's laughing then?" The Doctor asked, sarcastically.
"No thanks. I don't appreciate a good sweat." Rose laughed. The Doctor wiped his forehead and slowly walked towards Rose with his thumb sticking up.
"Don't you dare!" Rose got up and backed away. when she did, she backed up into the console and her hand hit a lever.
"What's the matter Rose? Don't like a bit of sweat?" The Doctor asked mischievously.
Rose took off around the console with the Doctor behind her, not at his full speed. Astrid's tongue was hanging out of her mouth and she started chasing the Doctor, nipping at his red converse every so often.
"Get away from me!" Rose screamed, laughing as she looked behind her at the Doctor.
She suddenly turned around and sped towards the Gallifreyan. The Doctor stopped suddenly, confused by Rose's actions. Didn't take long for him to realize what she was going to do.
Rose jumped into the Doctor's arms and maximum speed, knocking him off his feet and fell to the grated floor. Rose fell on top of him, laughing. She grabbed his arms and pinned them down to the floor.
"What now, Doctor?" Rose said, smiling.
The Doctor laughed.
"Who is the oncoming storm? The destroyer of worlds?" He reminded her and arched his back so suddenly that Rose flopped off of him. Startled, Rose's grip on the Doctor's wrist loosened. The Doctor seized the opportunity and grabbed her wrists and pinned her down beneath him. "I am." He whispered.
Astrid, who was watching from afar trotted over to them and squeezed herself in between them, pressing her head against the Doctor.
Rose's laugh shook the poor puppy and she slipped off of Rose and onto the floor. This time they both laughed.
The Doctor let go of his companion's wrists. He dusted himself off and offered a hand to Rose. She gratefully took it and the Doctor pulled her to her feet.
"I guess it's about time to feed her." Rose announced. Astros started clawing at her leg and whimpering.
Instead of yipping happily at the word 'food' she squatted.
"OH NO NO NO NO!" The Doctor screamed, realizing what Astrid was about to do. He quickly grabbed her off the ground and rushed her over to the puppy pads that had been placed near the door of the TARDIS. He put her down and allowed her to do her business.
"Good girl." He praised, petting her head. She trotted back to Rose, who had taken a seat on the jump seat.
"If she just did her business then what did she eat?"
"Hopefully something before we took her." The Doctor ran a hand through his brown hair. The Doctor sat down next to Rose. They watched Astrid play with a fox they had gotten her. She was content, on the floor chewing on its head. Every so often her teeth would sink in to the area where the squeaker was and the toy would utter a high pitched squeak. The Doctor got up to make tea and Rose got up to grab the toy from Astrid's mouth.
Suddenly the console buzzed and the TARDIS shot forward, throwing all 3 passengers off their feet. Rose and The Doctor fell back on the jump seat but Astrid flew like Under Dog. She landed a few feet away from the door, a coral beam stopping her from hitting the wall.
"WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?" Rose screamed over the vworping and sirens.
"I DON'T KNOW. DIDN'T KNOW THE TARDIS HAD A SIRENS FEATURE."
"WELL STOP IT!" Rose yelled.
the Doctor rushed to the TARDIS. console.
"WE'VE BEEN HIT BY AN ASTROID!" The Doctor screamed as he examined the monitor.
"WHY AREN'T THE SHIELDS UP?!" Rose was crawling over to where Astrid was. She picked her up and crawled back to watch the Doctor.
"WE'RE PLUMMETING TOWARDS EARTH.... 2001!"
The Doctor's eyes were wide!
"CAN'T YOU REGAIN CONTROL?" Rose asked
"TOO MUCH DAMAGE! The Doctor replied, "WE'RE IN EARTH'S ATMOSPHERE! IT IS GOING TO BE A HARD LANDING!"
Rose held Astrid in her lap and tucked her head. the puppy was whimpering. Rose felt strong arms wrap around her body. Rose was in a ball under the Doctor, his body over Rose's head.
The TARDIS wheezed a moment before impact. She hit the ground and the passengers fell on their sides, out of tuck position.
The lights flickered before they went off completely. Only a small red light blinked from the console.
"Are you okay?" The Doctor asked, getting to his hands and knees in front of Rose.
"Oh yeah." She picked up Astrid, who shook herself clean of dust.
"We probably should get out of here. TARDIS has to repair herself." The Doctor informed Rose.
"Where is the leash. And where are we?" Rose asked.
The Doctor grabbed the monitor and spun it around so it was in front of him.
"November 2001." The Doctor's voice filled with excitement.
"Let's go! Do you have the leash?" The Time Lord asked his companion.
"I got it." Rose raised the leash up as proof that she had it."
"Right. Let's go out and have a look." The Doctor grabbed his coat from the coral beam. He was unaware that Astrid was following him. He opened the door and Astrid ran out of the TARDIS.
