I walk through the halls looking fabulous as always. Today's been boring and basic. It's the new kid's second day and I still haven't said anything to him since he shadowed on Monday.
My boyfriend wanted to see me today, so as he requested I'm now waiting outside the library. I really need a new book to read, I think. I finished my last book yesterday. He'll find me if I go inside, right?
I push open the door and search for a new book, A-B, nothing. C-D, nothing. E-F... my eyes widen. Sitting in the desks, practically eating each other's lips, is Jinx and Conner. I drop my book bag loudly and they immediately pull away from each other and stare at me, shocked.
Tears come out involuntarily. Jinx rolls her eyes, "We all knew it'd happen, don't be such a cry baby." I hold my breath.
I look over to Conner, he's looking at Jinx. I wipe my eyes and pick up my bag. I can't be here, I can't be anywhere. My friend backstabbed me, my boyfriend cheated on me. What did I do to deserve this?
I realise the new kid... what's his name? Ben, whatever. He's staring at me, a big problem. Drama queen(me) isn't supposed to be a part of the drama. I shoot him a look but he misses it. I look back at Conner who now is sitting straight and looking at me with puppy eyes, which now have no effect on me.
"Don't be too sad, Aiko. It's not your fault." Conner says.
"If you loved me you wouldn't have done this." I say.
Jinx looks to Conner, they share a worried look, Jinx turns back to me, "I didn't mean what I said, sorry."
"Shut it, Jinx. You're the problem."
Jinx's eyes widen, she knows she's lost and yet a part of her thinks she's still in the right, like she apoligized to prove she's better than me. Well she's not. I'm the queen of drama, I'm the one with better fashion, I'm the one who can pull off lavender. I'm better. I'm better than Jinx, I'm better than Conner, I'm better than a lot of people.
Jinx's expression saddens as I leave, and for a second I feel happy that she cares. But I realize if she cared about me she wouldn't have cheated with my boyfriend. I leave the library, tears still flooding down, I pull out my phone.
"Mom."
"What's up, hun?"
"Can you come get me?"
"Yes, can I ask why?"
"I need you, and I need french fries."
My moma chuckles, "I'll be there in a second, just wait in the office for me, okay?"
"Okay."
"See you soon"
"Love you..."
"Love you too, bud"
I hang up.
I get to the office and shiver. It's always freezing here. The office ladies are like zombies, brainless and cold. One time I came in with a broken leg and they told me to put ice on it and didn't call any ambulance or even my moms. My moma got so mad that she sued, we won of course but they continue to work here.
"What are you doing here?"
"Waiting for my mom."
"Sick?"
"No."
"Then you can't go home."
I don't say anything."Did you hear me, brat? You can't go home."
I whip around, "I'll sue again you old hag"
She looks at my wide eyes and shuts her old, gross mouth. God, I hate her.
