Chapter two: Diva (Aiko)

My feet fall into the snow as I drag myself into the school, I look amazing, but I do not feel amazing. The snow is up to my ankles and this is the time I thank god for letting me remember to wear my boots and bring my heels. I get inside and quickly take off my shoes and put on my heels, the school's still cold inside so I keep my coat on. My friend group is standing around someone, no doubt bullying whoever (unfortunately) happens to be in the middle of them.

My boyfriend, Conner, is cut from the same cloth. As a football player he's always getting into fights, claiming it's for 'practice'. As much as I love him, it's hard when I only ever get the chance to go see him in detention and the office (or when he can sneak up to the restrooms). Conner's parents are rich, and he's an undisciplined child, so he can't take right from wrong anymore. I guess I love him because I want to help him. He's nice to me and he always wants to see me. I love him.

I put my things away in my locker then walk over to see who today's victim is, a girl, she has two braids in her pretty, long black hair. She's wearing glasses but right as I see them they're ripped off her face by Jinx and thrown to the ground, "Come on, Aiko!" Silv says, "Step on 'em!"

The other girls cheer me on, the girl with braids looks scared and as if she's out of focus and is guessing whether the blob shape she sees is me or not. I look down at the glasses and take a step, "No!" The girl cries.

Jinx laughs and pushes her to the floor, picking up the glasses and giving them to her, "Why don't you do my homework next time, hm?"

The girl picks up her cracked glasses, nods to Jinx and runs away. She whimpers as she runs past me and I notice she's limping, "How hard did you push her?" I ask.

"Not hard enough for such a brat," Jinx replies.

I nod, I've had to go along with these horrible things for so long and I've never done anything to stop them, nor do I ever plan to.

I walk to class with them as our group splits into two: one half going to science and the other half going to math. I, unfortunately, am in math. I have a D+, but if I fail this test coming up then I'll be failing. My moms would KILL me if I let that happen. But I still haven't studied and the test is this Friday.

I walk into class with Jinx, Silv, and Xandra (the other two in the group: Undine and Gen, went to science, which is my favorite class and I'm so jealous they get it before me). We all sit in a row, making sure to glare at anyone who walks by, clear we don't want them to sit next to us. The teacher (Mr Miler) starts to hand out our practice tests, I roll my eyes and I swear they'll pop out if I go any harder on them. Practice tests are the bane of my existence. I pick up a pencil and start, can't be that hard right?

-

I was wrong, it ended up taking me all of class to finish it, the teacher even suggested I take it home to study, like, why would I take it home? I hate this class.

"What took you two so long on that stupid practice test?" Silv askes me and Jinx.

"We're just better, you peabrain," Jinx snarls, flicking Silv in the forehead.

I nod, it's true, we are better. Than anyone.

We walk to our next period: ELA. ELA comes easy to me... for some strange unexplainable reason. Today our essay is due, it's on the current state of the economy (of which I think there's no worse choice for a school project). I get into class and sit down next to my friends again, but as we do our glaring I spot a new one. He has a name tag on and as he approaches me and Jinx I can read it: "Bennet Clarke" I stare at him as he sits next to me. I'm shocked, he has to be new because no one (besides my group) would sit next to me (or any of us to be fair).
