4 Years Later

"Dim, hey, stop it!" I said through laughter as he tickled me. "Ok, ok, baby, I'll stop..."

We sat up and looked over at the crib our daughter was sleeping in. "I wonder how long until she'll wake up again," I said as Dima grabbed my hand. "You know what we haven't done in a while?"

"Hmm?"

He leaned in to kiss me, a chuckle from my lips as I leaned in too. The baby interrupted us with her crying, a sarcastic frown on my face before I laughed a little bit. Dima got up to see what woke her. "Okay, Anya, what's up now?" I chuckled as he brought her to the bed. "Oh, she's hungry. I'll get her bottle," I said as I stood up. Dima smiled at me before looking back at the baby, his eyes a bit shiny. When I came back with the bottle he had gotten her to calm down a bit. "You're a good dad, you know that, right?" He shook his head with a humble smile, propping the baby's head up with his arm as he put the bottle in her mouth.

"I only know what to do because I see you do these things. I'm copying you. Did you really think I'd automatically know what to do? You had a baby, you know what to do. I'm clueless. I've only had to take care of cats, but now I have a little human in my arms that needs me to take care of her. I need you to help me."

I kissed his cheek, smiling with teary eyes. "You might wanna hold her head up higher," I suggested. "Oh," He laughed, "Thanks for that."

A Week Later

"Okay, when the door opens we're all gonna scream surprise, got it?" Everyone nodded as we got into place, waiting for Dima to wake up.

"Surprise!"

Streamers popped and Dima almost fell down the stairs. "What the fuck?" He looked around, not sure what was happening. "Happy birthday Dima!"

"Oh..."

He came down the stairs slowly, giving a small smile when he saw the baby. "Happy birthday, baby," I said as he kissed me softly. "Thank you, love, but it's a little early for this," He said quietly. "Yeah, okay," I turned to the crowd of people, shining a grin. "Okay guys, Dima needs to wake up, we'll see y'all later."

I winked. Everyone knew what I meant.

A Few Hours Later

"Sergey, I feel like we've just been going in circles around the house. When will you take this damn blindfold off me?"

I laughed, running into the coffee table for the fifth time. "Baby, we're almost there."

"Is "there" our patio?"

Dammit.

"Would you be mad if it was?" I asked, directing him towards the door to the patio.

"Not really, no."

"Good. Cause it is," I said as I took off the blindfold, showing Dima the party full of his friends and family. He had the biggest smile on his face, Anna and Elena running to hug him. After he said hello and hugged everyone, he started being his funny, happy self. "Wow. I'm glad you're here but also sad you have to see me like this. I'm 30! I'm old now!" All of us laughed at Dima's joke. Yeah, it wasn't very funny, considering most of the people here were over 30, but he's the birthday boy, it's fine.

I leaned against his shoulder, looking up at him. He wrapped his arm around me, kissing my forehead. "Happy birthday."

"Thank you, sweetie."
