SHE HAD NO NAME, BUT THE ONE GIVEN TO HER UNCONSCIOUS SELF. The road was paved with snow, gracefully trickeling down. A young girl was lying amid the coarse, freezing ground. Families walked by, not noticing the sleeping girl.
A nurse admiring the winter landscape gasped as she saw the unconscious figure fixed in the snow. She gathered her coat and carried the young woman inside.
As she awoke, she heard the muffled voices of nurses, "What is her name?" The nurses looked at each other, silently asking if they knew the answer, but none knew. "She shall be named Anya, then."
Anya was a girl with no memories, yet she could fairly recall someone whispering to her, "I'll meet you, right there, in Paris." She knew nothing about her life before she was found at the side of the road, but she knew someone was waiting for her.
