Kara sat in a corner she found, secluded from any prying eyes. As tears streamed down her face, she thought about her sister. She gripped the necklace her mother had given her.
"I failed, mother. I'm sorry. I couldn't even protect my sister." Kara closed her eyes and tried to think of her sister, very much alive and okay. Her sobs wracked through her as she sat.
"Kara?"
Kara's head shot up and she quickly wiped her tears away, looking up to see the sand-haired super-soldier looking down at her, a look of concern on her face.
"Steve! I'm sorry!"
"Why are you apologizing? Are you okay?"
"No, I don't know."
"Do you mind if I sit?"
Kara smiled at his soft voice and moved over slightly, making room for him. "Thank you."
"Of course. Do you want to talk about it? Or you can tell me to shove off." Steve asked, and a small smile appeared on Kara's lips.
"I don't know if I can..." Kara sighed and Steve began to stand up. "But please... please don't go. Can - Can you just sit with me for a minute."
"Of course." Steve sat back down and Kara rested her head on his shoulder. The contact took him by surprise and he shifted slightly.
"Shit. I'm sorry. If you aren't comfortable with me doing that, I won't." Kara's head snapped up and her face grew red as she scooted away from him.
"Kara, calm down. It's okay. You're just so strong. You made me jump." Steve laughed, moving back towards her. Kara gave a watery smile and put her head back on his shoulder. The two sat for a few minutes while Kara tried to steady her breathing.
"I couldn't save my sister. She trusted me, but I wasn't quick enough. Now she might be dead because of me." Kara finally gasped out, tears falling from her eyes once again.
"Hey, hey. Slow down." Steve looked down at her and quickly placed a comforting arm around her. "What happened? I thought you saved her."
"Well, I thought so too. But everything was happening so fast. I think I made myself believe that I did. But, Wanda..."
"Wanda read your mind."
"And she saw what really happened. I had to see it too. I had to relive it. I had to see what I really did."
"Kara, it wasn't your fault. You did everything you could. I know what it feels like to be weak and vulnerable. When you do all you can, but it's still not enough. I'm positive your sister doesn't hate you. We'll get you back as soon as we can."
"Thank you, Steve."
"Of course. Now, I think you should go challenge Bucky now. He needs to be put in his place."

Steve and Kara walked back into the living room, where Thor had taken Steve's place and the two were holding their right hands. They seemed to be locked, neither moving.
"So, who winning?" Steve sat between the two while Kara wandered over to when Sam and Tony had taken out their suits and were still trying to lift the hammer. Wanda and Nat were sitting on the couch where Kara had been sitting, watching the two men try to lift Mjölnir.
"Kara..."
Kara scowled and walked by the witch, ignoring her guilty look. Nat glanced between them, looking at Kara's scowl and Wanda's defeated face.
"What did you do?!" Nat looked at Wanda accusingly.
"I... I fucked up." Wanda watched the blond's reiterating back.
"You read her mind?" Nat rolled her eyes. "And?"
"She was telling the truth."
"She's been with us for over two months and she's probably more powerful than all of us combined. If she wanted to hurt us, she would have done it already."
"Probably... It just seemed like you trusted her too quickly. You guys didn't trust me that quickly."
"What...?" Nat gave her a baffled look. "uh, huh. To be fair though, you tried to kill us... she didn't."
Wanda's face grew red and Nat raised her eyebrows before continuing. "Are you sure there could be no other reason you don't like her?"
"What other reason would there be? She's so perfect. Nothing can stop her."
"So you're not at all jealous or threatened by her?"
"JEALOUS?!" Wanda yelled out, causing everyone's head to turn towards her. Wanda grimaced before turning and glaring at Nat. "No."
"Sure," Nat looked unconvinced. "Just stay here, and refrain from doing anything stupid."
With that, Nat stood and made her way over to where Kara, Steve, and Bucky sat. Steve was showing her his shield and Bucky was trying to one-up him, butting in with his arm. Kara was rolling her eyes and laughing as the two men pushed each other aside, trying to impress the alien.

"So, it's fairly obvious Wanda doesn't like me."
"Yeah... that was uncalled for." Nat paused and looked at Kara. It was late. Everyone had gone to bed, but Kara had stayed and Nat offered to keep her company. "If you don't mind me asking, what did she make you relive?"
Kara swallowed and sighed. "It was how I ended up here. I failed to save my sister, before being thrown into the wormhole. I don't know if she's okay."
"I see. Look I don't know much about those on your earth, but doctors are competent. She'll be okay. I know I can't see another earth," Kara smiled at Nat. "But, if your sister works alongside you, something tells me she's pretty strong."
Kara took a deep breath and nodded. What Nat said made sense. "Thank you."
