"evelyn! come downstairs, please!" my mom shouts throughout the house, as i groan and get up.
i slowly walked downstairs, yawning every step down.
"what's up, mom?" i say and rub my eyes.
"the hemmings family will be here for lunch. help me clear the table." she says as she wipes the dinner table, setting down place mats and plates.
"what?! why didn't you tell me earlier. god, i look horrible." i sigh, running back up stairs not even bothering trying to help my mom with the table.
i run back to my room, and close the door behind me and sigh. i look hideous and i go into my bathroom and jump into the shower.
after i was doing showering, i walked up the my closet and probably say there staring at my clothes, wondering what i should wear. i skim my closet quickly, picking out some black highwaisted shorts and a random white boxy crop top.
i put them on, squeezing into the shorts. i haven't worn shorts in ages, which reminds me i forgot to shave. i shrug, and walk to the mirror to start my makeup.
when i was done with my makeup, i slightly curled after it was dry. i looked in the mirror, and thought, who was i impressing? im doing this for myself anyways. it's just that asshole i don't even know the name of. i think it was jack?
i run back downstairs to try and help my mom, but she was already finished.
"looking good, mom. anyways, why are they coming over anyways?" i asked curiously, sitting at the kitchen island and munching on an energy bar.
"nothing, really. they're our family friends, lyn. they're always welcome." my mom says as she continues cooking.
"hmm. well. okay." i say, getting up and on cue the doorbell rings.
"ive got it, mom." i say, walking over to the door and opening it.
mr and mrs hemmings pops up, and in the back i see their three sons.
"evelyn, dear! it's been so long. how have you been?" liz says while i let her and her family in.
